🇺🇸 DID YOU KNOW?

National Women Veterans Recognition Day is not a separate Veterans Day for women.

Instead, June 12 commemorates a historic milestone in our nation’s military history.

On June 12, 1948, President Harry S. Truman signed the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, granting women the right to serve as permanent members of the United States Armed Forces.

Before this law, women served honorably during times of war and national need, but were generally expected to leave military service when the conflict ended.

Women have been serving our nation since the Revolutionary War, yet many Americans are unaware of the significance of June 12. National Women Veterans Recognition Day recognizes the generations of women whose service, sacrifice, and perseverance helped shape our military and our country.

💜 Join us as we honor generations of women veterans and celebrate their lasting contributions to America’s military legacy.

Today at Saratoga National driving in seeing the Avenue of Memorial Day Flags still up and flying and feeling that feeling that comes over you approaching the entrance, a cloudless blue sky and feeling grateful that I could present as The Saratoga Ladies of Saratoga National Cemetery to the family of Veteran Dennis Cummings funeral, all because a dear long ago friend of mine contacted me to tell me his relatives funeral would be today.
Together, Army, My Brother, Tuesday Honor Guard Don Boone, PGR and myself were there to honor and pay tribute today.
I can't begin to express how respectable and honorable it was to be here today and every day for all our Veterans. Thank you to the Cummings and Boomhower Family and friends.
