October is National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, a time to recognize the countless shelter dogs waiting for loving homes.

Every dog deserves a safe place to call home, and every adoption creates space for another animal in need. Whether you're looking for a walking companion, a family pet, or a loyal best friend, your perfect match may be waiting at the Schenectady County SPCA.

We are grateful to our adopters, fosters, volunteers, and supporters who help provide second chances to animals throughout our community.

As the seasons begin to change and cooler temperatures arrive, fall is a great reminder to ensure your pets are safe, healthy, and comfortable.

Whether it's updating identification tags, preparing for shorter daylight hours, or making time for outdoor exercise in the crisp autumn air, a little preparation can help pets enjoy the season to the fullest.

At the Schenectady County SPCA, we remain committed to providing care, shelter, and second chances for animals in need. We are grateful for the support of our adopters, volunteers, fosters, and donors who help make that mission possible.

As families gear up for back-to-school season, our pets may be feeling the change too. After a summer full of playtime and company, the sudden quiet can cause stress or separation anxiety.

- Leave your pet’s favorite toy or treat to keep them busy
- Give extra exercise and attention when you are home
- Consider a furry study buddy – adopt or foster to keep the love going year round

Let’s make the school year a happy one for the whole family – paws included. Donate today to save animals who are suffering! Your generous support can give helpless animals a new life.
