Zander began working at the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) last fall, just in time for the start of the school year. In his role, he manages a food station as he sets up, keeps the area clean, and ensures each meal is served with care.

Before joining UMR, Zander worked at Walmart as a cart pusher and was a recent graduate of Project SEARCH at Mayo Clinic, where he gained valuable hands-on experience and developed essential workplace skills in a professional healthcare setting.

Outside of work, Zander enjoys watching documentaries that range from true crime to natural disasters, as well as anime and a variety of other television genres. His curiosity, dedication, and diverse interests make him a valued member of the UMR dining team, and we look forward to seeing all he will accomplish in the future.

Marthe was born in Rwanda, but soon after, she moved to the Philippines, where she lived for 30 years. Coming from a historical medical family deeply rooted in the healthcare field, Marthe was inspired to pursue a career in that area. She studied and went to school to become a nurse in the Philippines, but was seeking greater opportunities in the United States. Following in the footsteps of many family members who now work in the United States, Marthe moved to the U.S. in 2019.

Shortly after relocating, Marthe began working at Mayo Clinic as an EKG technician, a role she held for three years. In this position, she specialized in operating equipment that monitors patients’ heart activity.

After gaining valuable experience, Marthe transitioned into her current role as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). However, this was a major career shift and transitional period for Marthe, so she connected with Opportunity Services for support and guidance. As a CNA, Marthe works in the emergency room alongside other healthcare professionals, assisting both them and patients during urgent and often stressful situations.

With over five years of experience at Mayo Clinic and a background spanning continents and medical disciplines, Marthe’s journey is a powerful example of resilience, passion, and dedication to helping others, regardless of her location in the world.

Great work, Marthe!
