As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, we're working to make sure local Veterans and their families have what they need to stay warm in the months ahead.

From now through October 1st, Nation’s Finest - Redding is collecting new and gently used coats in all sizes for Veterans and their families who are experiencing homelessness or financial hardship.

After serving in Afghanistan, Army Reserve Veteran Daniel Vago faced a major health setback that disrupted his education, finances, and ultimately his housing. For months, he camped throughout California’s state parks with his two dogs and cat, staying connected with his Nation’s Finest case manager along the way.

That connection never broke. With support from Nation’s Finest, Daniel regained his footing, found stable housing, and earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy earlier this year. This fall, he’ll begin a master’s program at Johns Hopkins University.

Sisterhood is about showing up for one another.

Through our Bonds of Sisterhood Initiative, Nation’s Finest - Vacaville brought Women Veterans together for an evening of painting tiles, sharing stories, and connecting with one another.

Back-to-school season can bring a lot of extra expenses for families. Thanks to the generosity of our community, Nation’s Finest - Vacaville was able to help ease some of that burden for local Veteran families.

Every family who walked through our doors received a backpack and school supplies, a coat and socks, haircuts, candy and treats, and a $50 Target gift card for each child to choose something they needed for the school year.

We’re grateful to everyone who has donated so far and helped us put these resources directly into the hands of families who need them.

And we’re not done yet. Our Back-to-School Donation Drive continues through August 28. See the comments below for information on how to donate in person or online.
