Compassion Without Borders was founded in 2001 by Christi and Moncho Camblor . The focus of our organization is to alleviate the suffering of unwanted companion animals in Mexico and other low resource regions in the US through a multifaceted approach which includes international rescue efforts, extensive spay/neuter campaigns, humane euthanasia and humane education. Our board is made up of veterinarians and professional animal advocates with decades of experience from around the country. We are staffed by nearly 100% volunteer labor – which means 100% of all donations can go directly toward our work!

Help us guess their breed! 🐾

Meet Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, three 5-month-old puppies we rescued from Mexico where they'd been abandoned in a box. On death's doorstep when we met, it's amazing to see them today—healthy, happy, playful, and just the right amount of mischievous today—just the way all puppies should be.

We're guessing they're some kind of Chihuahua mix (we like the idea of them being mini Weimaraners), but we never know for sure with meximutts. Two things are certain though, mutt is our favorite breed, and these sweet boys are perfect! All of them are officially available for adoption and looking for loving homes.

🐾🩷 Run for Cause! 👟💨

We love our Mexico team and all the incredible ways they show up in the community. Last weekend they participated in Perrun, a run and fundraiser for cancer research. They brought shelter dogs to walk and run alongside them, including sweet Adriana who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for TVT, a cancer that is completely curable in dogs.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the resilience of Indigenous communities, acknowledge the systemic barriers they have long faced, and celebrate the compassion, strength, and care they continue to embody. ❤️

We’re honored to work alongside local tribal communities to help build sustainable access to veterinary care. Thanks to the PetSmart Charities Incubator Grant, we’re engaged in a multi-year collaboration to foster tribal-led veterinary care.

This unique program is rooted in a simple but powerful principle: The communities most impacted should lead the way. Tribal communities bring deep, firsthand knowledge of their people’s needs, priorities, and strengths. Our role is to listen, facilitate, and provide resources and support as requested, empowering communities to shape solutions that reflect their own knowledge, values, and vision.

This work inspires us every day, reminding us that true compassion begins with listening, humility, and respect. It reminds us that our role isn’t to impose our beliefs or systems on one another, but to stand alongside one another, share resources, and lift each other up to build stronger, more connected communities.

Today and every day, we’re grateful for the opportunity to learn from and work alongside these communities. 🐾❤️

Take a look at some of the faces who were adopted at this weekend's adoption event. 13 new beginnings and second chances were made on Saturday.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible. Your compassion and support helped 13 dogs find loving homes.

Mimosa and Tini hope your weekend is wrapping up nicely! ❤️🐱

These two💕Sweet Mimosa has been through so much. We rescued her with rubber bands tied tightly around both of her front feet, causing damage beyond repair. Despite everything she's endured, she is the happiest, most playful, delightful cat and an absolutely wonderful mama to little Tini (short for Martini!).

We are so grateful that these two sweet souls are safe, loved, and thriving in foster care. Seeing Mimosa so full of joy after all she's been through is a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do.

This adoption update! 😍(Bee, formerly Sol)

"Bee will turn 7 months in a couple days. She's growing so fast.

She is smart, inquisitive and absolutely loves Nakoma her senior big sister.

She has found her husky voice and talks back quite a bit when told no. Sometimes it's quite hilarious because she literally throws a tantrum like a child, tossing herself around on her back and all 😂

She's quite a love bug too.

She's taken to a crate quite well. Gets out on lots of walks and fetch and soon I think it's time for rolled skate and dog runs because wow does she got energy.

I absolutely adore her in every way. Adding her to the pack was a perfect addition."

She has helped 3,362 animals get Adopted! 🎉

Meet Heather, our dedicated Adoption Manager here at Muttopia. She's worked in our adoption department since 2018 and in her time here she's helped 3,362 animals find loving homes.

Heather is the true embodiment of compassion. Heather takes time to truly know each animal that walks through our shelter doors. She has fostered animals, taken dogs on early morning hikes up Taylor Mountain, and every day she lets dogs spend time relaxing in her office and romping around in the adoption yard. Her love of animals is visible in everything she does.

What's even more wonderful about Heather is that not only is she an advocate to our animals, she also cares deeply about the people who adopt them. Heather meets everyone with kindness, respect, and zero judgement.

Sometimes adoptions don't work—the match isn't quite right out or life circumstances change a person's ability to care for a pet. In these situations, Heather inspires us with her boundless empathy. At the heart of her work is a desire to place animals in the homes that will give them the best life possible and to provide people with the opportunity to experience the life-changing love of a companion animal.

Help us in celebrating, Heather! ❤️✨ 3,362 adoptions and she's not stopping yet. This weekend we have a special on-site adoption event at Muttopia from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and we're excited to see this number grow.

Jimothy needs your well wishes! ❤️‍🩹

This tiny boy just had a big surgery. It's hard to believe something so small and cute could have ended up in such awful circumstances. Rescued by our partners, Jimothy was found with debris matted in his hair, emotionally shut down, and suffering from a serious, untreated injury to his arm.

When we brought him into our care, he was still emotionally shut down and we could see his injury was severe--the front leg was unusable, so fractured that his paw just dangled when he walked.

Today, Jimothy is recovering from an amputation, and soon, he will no longer be in pain. For someone so tiny, he is incredibly brave.

We love you, Jimothy. 💕 You're safe now.
