🏡 Our future Habitat homeowners have been hard at work over the last few weeks, continuing to put in their sweat equity hours and helping bring these homes to life. We’ve been busy prepping the foundation for the garages and back patio, finishing up interior details, and looking ahead to building the backyard fence, front porch, and landscaping — and our families have been with us every step of the way.

Every hour spent on site is part of the journey toward safe, stable, and affordable homeownership, and it’s inspiring to watch the progress take shape week by week.

We’re also excited to celebrate a new addition to our Habitat team — welcome, Gilberto! 🎉

Gilberto is an SRJC Construction Corps student who first started volunteering with us months ago, helping build the retaining wall and fence back in August when our current project site was still just a dirt lot. Since then, he’s continued to show up with an incredible work ethic, kindness, and dedication to the mission.

Now, we’re thrilled to officially welcome him as our new Crew Lead! We’re so excited to have him as part of the Habitat family and can’t wait to see all the amazing work ahead.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

At Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County, we are especially mindful of the meaning of “home”: a place of safety, dignity, and belonging. We are grateful for the veterans, military families, volunteers, and community partners who help make it possible for more families to experience the stability of home 💙💚

Today we’re celebrating our Blankenship Place homeowner, Kerrily, and her amazing milestone ✨🏡 Kerrily has officially completed her sweat equity hours, an incredible step on her journey to homeownership!

Throughout the process, Kerrily showed up on the build site with grit and enthusiasm, rallying an amazing network of friends, family, and coworkers from COTS to volunteer alongside her and her future neighbors.

A Sonoma County native who grew up in Sebastopol, Kerrily has spent years supporting others in our community through her work in the nonprofit sector. She's now building that same stability for her own family in the community she grew up.

This is what perseverance, community, and hope look like. 💙💚💪 Cheers to you, Kerrily! We’re so excited to celebrate with you at the Home Dedication this fall!

🎉 We’re thrilled to welcome a new member to the Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County team!

🏡💙 Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible Moms out there!

Today, we honor all mothers and caregivers in our community, including the incredible women we are proud to partner with and build alongside. Their strength, determination, and love for their families inspire our work every day.

When mothers have access to safe housing, entire families and communities thrive. 🌷

More on the progress at our Blankenship Place build site! 🏡🔨

Last week, our friends at joined us back on site to help complete cabinet installation in two townhomes’ kitchens and bathrooms, along with interior finishes like doors and baseboards.

Our crew also kept things moving forward with work on the garage foundation, and concrete is set to be poured in the coming days.

So much momentum right now! Stay tuned for more updates 👀✨

✨ Introducing our new weekly series: Habitat Heroes✨

We're celebrating the partners & sponsors who help make our work possible 💙💚 This week, we’re proud to spotlight longtime partner Visions Quality Coatings Paint & Primer!

Since 2001, Visions has been remanufacturing high-quality, eco-friendly paint made from recovered materials, delivering durability, great coverage, and affordability without compromising performance.

They’ve also been an incredible partner to us over the years, providing discounted paint we use in our home builds and repair projects. You can even find Visions paint at our ReStore, helping extend their impact even further across Sonoma County!

We’re so grateful for partners like Visions who help make safe, beautiful, and affordable homes possible, while caring for our environment and community. Now that’s something worth stocking up on 🏡✨

As we wrap up Fair Housing Month, we want to take a moment to celebrate the four families we’re working with to “Open the Door” to homeownership in our community. ✨

We recently had the chance to ask one future homeowner, Maria, what “home” means to her.

“Home isn’t physical… it’s knowing my family is going to be okay. Building your home and knowing what it took. That’s security.”

For years, “home” also meant uncertainty, wondering their rent would go up, if another move was around the corner, if stability was ever truly within reach. Now, that’s changing.

This fall, Maria and her son will walk through the door of a place that’s truly theirs; a forever home where they can feel safe, stable, and finally look ahead to long-term dreams instead of day-to-day survival. ✨

We're so excited for Maria, and her family. This is what it means to Open The Door. 💚💙
