We had such an amazing time planning the second annual Day of Hope Car Show, held outside Mission Hope Cancer Center - Santa Maria on August 22! With the help of our friends from Mad Bomberz Car Club, more than 70 cars rolled in for an incredible day of fun, community, and support. The event also featured touch-a-truck vehicles for kids, food trucks, sponsor vendor booths, cancer center resources, and live music by Gunmetal Gray Band!

Special thanks to Santa Maria Police Department and our Day of Hope volunteers for all of their support in making this year's car show a success.

Over 800 volunteers took to the streets on Wednesday, August 26, for the 13th annual Day of Hope! Take a peek at some of the fun that you may have missed (or been a part of!) this year. Hundreds of volunteers will be selling limited edition Santa Maria Times Day of Hope newspapers at businesses, intersections, and parking lots throughout Santa Maria, Orcutt, Guadalupe, and the Five Cities… PLUS this year we’re in Lompoc thanks to our friends at CoastHills Credit Union!

Look for the BRIGHT ORANGE safety vests, signs, and cheers between 7 AM and noon! Donate $1.00 to get your newspaper and read some incredible local survivor stories. Every donation stays in our community to support Mission Hope Cancer Center and helps deliver hope to local patients with cancer and their families.

In one day, dollar by dollar, we will fight cancer together!

What an amazing day! The support our community shows for our patients with cancer and their families is so heartwarming.

Rows of brightly colored vintage cars filled the grounds of Mission Hope Cancer Center on Saturday as families, car enthusiasts and community members gathered for the Day of Hope Car Show, turning a shared love of cars into an afternoon of connection, remembrance and giving.
“Car culture in Santa Maria is like nothing I’ve ever seen,” said Derek Ray Baden, senior director of cancer services for the Central Coast. “And a lot of the people that have come in today are coming in for a specific reason — in memory of a loved one, in honor of a loved one, or cancer survivors or patients that are actually in treatment actively right now."

Our Dignity Level Sponsors in Santa Maria and Arroyo Grande have gone above and beyond to support Day of Hope. In addition to sponsoring the event, several are also putting together teams to sell papers and raise even more funds for this important cause!
