The CALI Project At CALI, Community Alliance for Lifelong Independence, we coach differently-abled adults in life skills and work with them to integrate into the community

Founded in 2016, CALI is an intensive, two year, goal based, life skill training program that uses an innovative coaching approach in a part-time temporary residential setting known as a CALI Transition Home (CTH). Unlike traditional life skill training programs, CALI provides the opportunity for consumers to transition slowly into the adult world. By coming to a CTH for a portion of each week our

consumers experience what it's like to live on their own with the safety of returning to their familiar environment to practice their new found skills.

Shopping for shoes sounds simple — but there's a lot more going on than meets the eye. 👟
When A spotted a pair at the mall that caught his attention, he didn't just grab them and go. He wanted to try them on, feel them out, and decide for himself. And that right there? That's independence in action. Knowing what you like, advocating for what you want, and taking the time to make a confident choice are all skills we nurture every day at The CALI Project.

Sometimes the best outings are the ones closest to home. 🌳☀️ C and the crew headed out to explore their local park — and what unfolded was exactly what community is supposed to look like: laughter, movement, connection, and the simple joy of spending time together in a space that belongs to everyone!
Here at CALI, we believe that accessing and enjoying your community is a life skill in itself. Navigating public spaces, socializing, and simply being present in the world builds independence in ways that go far beyond any checklist.

Otters, jellyfish, towering kelp forests, and eyes full of wonder, what a day it was! 🦦🐙🌊
The CALI Crew headed down to the for a day of exploration, curiosity, and a whole lot of wonder! Community outings like this are an essential part of what we do, giving our Crew the opportunity to experience the world around them, engage with new environments, and build the kind of real-world confidence that only comes from getting out and exploring.

This is what it looks like when people show up for each other. 🙌
The laughs, the energy, the moments in between..this is the CALI community on a regular day, and we wouldn't trade it for anything! Independence is the goal. But community?
Community is the foundation that makes everything else possible. When our Crew feels seen, included, and celebrated just for being themselves, that confidence carries into every skill, every outing, and every step toward the life they're building. These are our people. And we are so proud of every single one of them.

There is something truly magical about the bond between a rider and a horse. 🐴✨
S has been putting in the work during her horseback riding lessons, and watching her grow in poise, focus, and confidence with every session has been nothing short of inspiring! Horseback riding teaches patience, trust, and body awareness in a way few activities can. And for S, it's become so much more than a hobby — it's a space where she shows up fully and discovers just how capable she truly is! 🌟🏇

R came in ready for her cooking class! 🍪🧁 But this wasn't just any cooking class, R was on a mission. Together, we baked homemade treats: brownie cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, and peanut butter cookies, all prepared as a heartfelt thank-you to our local fire department!
From gathering ingredients and organizing supplies to prepping the dough and getting the oven going, R rolled up her sleeves and gave it her all. Staying focused during a multi-step activity takes real effort — but with encouragement and support, she pushed through, found her rhythm, and finished strong! To our local firefighters — thank you for everything you do! 🚒❤️
