This Saturday's meeting we will again be brewing Stein Bier - Steinbier (stone beer) is a traditional German beer style brewed by adding extremely hot stones to the wort, caramelizing sugars and creating a smoky, complex flavor.

Our September pub crawl to San Carlos: We rode safely in a passenger van to Hapa’s, Blue Oak and Alpha Acid. Good times and good brews. The highlight was Blue Oak where we had a full brewery tour.

May 18th is our annual event with the Fungus Federation of Santa Cruz - Suds & Shrooms. “We bring the beer, they bring the food.” As usual, the food, beer and company will be outstanding.

Steinbier! Last week our members brewed up a batch of "Steinbier" which means “stone beer” in German The name refers to a brewing process dating back to the Middle Ages. Rocks are heated to extreme temperatures, then added to the wort for the boil. Here are some photos.
