On October 8th, CSO OC joined with impacted families to march on SAPD and demand justice for Victor Lopez, Jaden Michaca, and Florentino Lopez. We were joined by FRSO OC, Amado FFPS and Union del Barrio.

Maribel Michaca demands justice for her 15-year-old son, Jaden Michaca, who was killed during a mental health crisis by SAPD officers Steven Gonzalez and Charles Ruelas June 9th 2026.

On October 6th she demanded City Council to release all unedited body camera footage of the incident. She demanded that SAPD improve its mental health training and actually use de-escalation tactics to prevent tragedies like Jaden's from happening again.

CSO demands that the officers responsible be fired from SAPD immediately!

On October 1st 2026, Officers Luis Casillas and Marco Benavides brutally attacked Florentino Lopez in front of his family.

Officers summoned Florentino from his front yard into the street. He complied and police pushed him against their vehicle and pinned his hands behind his back.

Without warning, Officer Luis Casillas threw Florentino to the ground and struck him in the head and body. Marco Benavides struck Florentino as well and pinned him to the pavement. Bleeding and defenseless, Florentino was slapped with charges meant to justify the police attack.

This is the latest crime by killer cop Luis Casillas.

CSO has been demanding that Casillas be fired ever since he killed unarmed Chicano Noe Rodriguez in December 2024 and Henry Gonzalez Junior just one month later.

But the City ignored our demands and Casillas went on to brutalize 15-year-old Mario Diaz in June 2025 and now Florentino Lopez this October.

The City is responsible for failing to protect its residents and stop the racist killings and brutality against Chicanos!

CSO OC Police Accountability Committee member David Pulido confronts City Council with its failure to protect its residents from repeat killer cop Luis Casillas, who was one of the officers who brutalized Florentino Lopez on October 1st.

A so-called independent investigation into the incident is completely absurd! CSO OC demands that both officers immediately be fired! The City has allowed Casillas alone to kill Noe Rodriguez and Henry Gonzalez Junior and to brutalize Mario Diaz and now Florentino Lopez with no consequences!

Join us next Wednesday October 14th at 6 PM in front of Santa Ana Police Department to protest the extreme brutality against Florentino Lopez! We demand that the officers responsible be fired immediately!

Florentino was complying with officers when he was suddenly tackled and struck multiple times in the head and body. He faces severe injuries and was charged despite being the victim of this attack.

This belongs to a pattern of racist police brutality and it must be stopped! Justice for Florentino Lopez!

On September 29th, our Police Accountability Committee alongside the family of Albert Arzola attended Anaheim City Council. We demanded that killer cop Nathan Garcia be fired, we also demanded the immediate release of the Autopsy Report.
