At our Diamond Anniversary Gala, Mater Dei proudly celebrated the remarkable members of our Ring of Honor — individuals whose dedication, leadership, and love for Mater Dei have shaped generations of Monarchs.

Established during our 50th Anniversary celebration in 2001, the Ring of Honor recognizes those who have left a lasting legacy on our school community. Thank you to every inductee for helping define what it means to live with Honor, Glory, and Love.

Annual Special Games Outreach: Serving with Joy

Each year, more than 300 Mater Dei students come together in a powerful expression of service, joy, and community through our Special Games Outreach. Led by Campus Ministry, this cherished tradition provides a day of fun, connection, and celebration for athletes with special needs.

From the opening welcome to every game, cheer, and shared moment, our students serve as buddies, encouragers, and friends, creating an environment where every athlete is seen, supported, and celebrated.
Special Games Outreach is more than an event. It is a reflection of who we are as a Mater Dei community, living out our call to serve one another with dignity, compassion, and love, all infused with Honor, Glory, and Love.

Oh, the Places We Go

At Mater Dei, learning has no borders and our Monarchs have the passports to prove it.

Through Model United Nations, World Languages, Science, and Academic Decathlon, students take their education beyond the classroom and into the world, from the ancient streets of Rome and Greece, to the global hubs of Dublin and Geneva, and across continents to Japan, China, England, Spain, Portugal, and Costa Rica, experiencing cultures, ideas, and perspectives that shape who they become.

These are just a few of the places we’ve gone…with many more to come. And, these journeys are transformational moments that build confidence, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of the world around us.

Because at Mater Dei, the world isn’t just something you study - it’s something you experience.

Congratulations to our Monarchs of the Month for April 2026: Harper O’Hara ‘26 and Lucy Heit ‘26.

These students were recognized for their outstanding character, leadership, academic excellence, service, and involvement in the life of Mater Dei. Last week, Mrs. Andi Watanabe, AP of Academics, surprised them with the happy news.

Each month, we recognize seniors who embody the values of Honor, Glory, and Love and inspire our community through their commitment both on campus and beyond.

Lucy is a graduate of Mission Basilica School in San Juan Capistrano and Thomas attended Manhattan Beach Middle School. We thank both schools for providing these Monarchs with a strong foundation that has contributed to their success at Mater Dei.

It was a joy to celebrate Mass For Christian Service last week with the Mater Dei community. Five students from each grade were recognized for their incredible dedication to service, including five members of the Class of 2026 who've earned over 900 hours:

Isabella Strickland

Congratulations to these and all students recognized during Mass yesterday. Saint Teresa said Christ has no body but yours, No hands, no feet on earth but yours, Yours are the eyes with which he looks Compassion on this world, yours are the feet with which he walks to do good, Yours are the hands with which he blesses the world.

Thank you to our students for living out this prayer and leading with Honor, Glory, and Love.
