Today is DAF Day 2026! ❤️

If you have a Donor-Advised Fund, today is a national day to put those charitable dollars to work for the causes you care about.

A grant to Solidarity Sandy Springs helps provide fresh produce, protein, dairy, and pantry staples for more than 800 local families who visit our pantry each week—giving our neighbors access to healthy food with dignity and choice.

If Solidarity is one of the organizations you care about, we'd be grateful if you considered recommending a grant from your DAF today.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors. ❤️

We are humbled, grateful and proud to be the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s Hunger Champions Partner of the Year! With over 700 partner agencies this is a big deal for Solidarity Sandy Springs! We could never do this work without our donors, volunteers and the people we serve that give us our reason to jump out of bed and do what needs to be done every day. Our amazing staff Corrie, Toni and Javier are the ones who make everything happen!

Introducing our 2026 Hunger Champions! Each year, the Atlanta Community Food Bank recognizes the people and organizations that have gone the extra distance to help in the fight against hunger in our community. This year we recognize:

Volunteer of the Year: Mickay Hall
Partner Agency of the Year: Solidarity Sandy Springs
Food Donor of the Year: Target
Supporter of the Year: Takeda
Public Official of the Year: Mayor Andre Dickens

Thank you for stepping up in the fight against food insecurity and made a significant impact for those in need across metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! ❤️

During Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor and celebrate the cultures, traditions, histories, and contributions of our Hispanic and Latino neighbors.

This year's theme, “Unidos, Somos Más” — “Together, We Are More” — beautifully reflects the spirit of community and what becomes possible when neighbors come together.

We are grateful for the many neighbors who make our community such a vibrant and special place.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors. ❤️

You can teach a (wo)man to fish AND you can teach her to SEW@! A collaboration between Solidarity Sandy Springs and LaAmistad graduated 20 something aspiring seamstresses after 8 weeks of hands on instruction.

From sewing a straight line and threading the machine to making a jean tote. (See pics in first comment)these women have had a great summer learning a transferable skill.

They started off learning on older donated machines, but the learning curve for different machines in various stages of repair was too frustrating. We broke down and bought 10 Brother machines week 2 for them to learn.

So here’s the deal- if they attended all 8 classes, they get to take home a sewing machine- one donated through our amazing network! Guess what-100% attendance!

Will you help us carry on the classes? We had 50 people sit. Up but we could only have 10 per class with 2 classes on Tuesday and Thursday. There is such a demand. And who knows- we might have a future Project Runway contestant!

Next class starts this month.

A machine is $150
It is about $45 per older machine for repair and we have 16.
A sewing kit is $25 for all the accoutrements.
If you have a machine to donate that would be awesome!

The BIG goal for our community is to have a group of women who can make things to sell at our Farmer’s Market to make money for their families. Stay tuned for the next chapter.

They should be proud of themselves. Took a chance, tried something new. And now look at them.

Big Thanks to Jennifer Stambeck for sharing her special gifts and Lou O’ Brien and Doreen Parks her able assistants. And huge thanks to LaAmistad staff who brought the translating.

Help provide sewing machines, fabric, thread, and other supplies for Solidarity Sandy Springs’ community sewing classes.
