Take a stroll through our SLO headquarters!

While our work extends throughout the Central Coast, this space serves as a hub for collaboration, connection, and support. From inspirational artwork and mission-driven messages displayed throughout the office to our inviting breakroom, outdoor patio, and green spaces, we've created an environment designed to foster wellbeing and community.

The spaces where we work matter. They provide opportunities for staff to connect, find inspiration, and stay grounded in the purpose that drives our mission every day.

We're proud of the culture we've built and grateful for the dedicated team members who bring our values to life within these walls and throughout our community.

This spring, 40 current and former foster youth in our programs celebrated a major accomplishment—earning their high school diploma or high school equivalency.

While graduation and educational milestones are significant achievements for any student, they often represent an even greater triumph for young people who have experienced foster care and other forms of adversity. Many have overcome challenges related to housing instability, school transitions, mental health struggles, loss, and uncertainty while remaining committed to their educational goals.

Their success is a testament to their perseverance, resilience, and determination.

We are incredibly proud of each graduate, and we are honored to be part of their journey. Please join us in celebrating these remarkable young people and the bright futures they are building for themselves.

Congratulations to all of our youth—we can't wait to see what you accomplish next!

Healing begins in community.

These words, shared by one of our Therapists, McKenna, reinforces a powerful truth: we are all connected. From our earliest experiences, our wellbeing is shaped by our relationships with others. When those relationships are disrupted through trauma, loss, isolation, discrimination, or instability, the effects can be life-alerting.

But just as hurt often occurs in relationships, healing can happen through relationships, too.

This is especially important for young people navigating challenges related to identity, belonging, mental health, or life circumstances. For LGBTQ+ youth and other marginalized young people, supportive relationships and affirming communities can make a meaningful difference in fostering resilience, hope, and emotional wellbeing.

Every day, we see the impact that connection, acceptance, and community support can have on a young person's ability to heal and thrive.

As you read through these slides, we invite you to reflect on the people and communities that have helped you feel seen, supported, and connected. Don't you want that for everyone?

Success--while different for every youth--requires celebration.

This year, thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, we were able to celebrate some life-changing achievements of our youth, including: one youth having earned their high school diploma; another finishing the school year with significantly improved attendance; and another having engaged consistently in therapy and tutoring services they were able to increase their participation in school assignments and activities.

While each achievement is unique, all three reflect the power of resilience in these young people, as well as how effective proper support, stability, and encouragement is in furthering their efforts.

Your donations helped provide the resources and services which allowed these young people to overcome challenges, build confidence, and reach these important milestones. You also enabled us to honor and celebrate them, communicating to our youth that their goals matter, that their efforts are valued, and that their wins are worth celebrating.

Thank you for investing in the potential of our youth and for being a key player in their paths towards success.

Investing in our staff invests in those we serve.

Recently, members of our team attended the Peer Conference: Professional Presence for Supporting Client Recovery, joining Peer Support Specialists from across Southern California to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and professional practice.

Throughout the conference, participants explored ways to enhance the peer role within behavioral health settings, build practical skills that support client recovery, and develop self-care strategies that promote wellness for both providers and those they serve.

We are proud of our team for their commitment to lifelong learning and for continually seeking new ways to support individuals on their recovery journeys. Thank you for bringing your passion, expertise, and lived experience to this important work every day.

We are honored to have received a grant from the Junior League of Santa Barbara in support of our youth in their efforts to successfully go from foster care to adult independence.

The journey to adulthood is challenging for any young person, but for youth who have experienced foster care, the path forward is taken without the safety net of family and other supports. And without additional support, resources, and encouragement, their success is much more difficult to achieve.

Junior League's funding will help us provide services and opportunities that promote stability, self-sufficiency, and long-term success for our young people as they work toward their educational, employment, housing, and personal goals.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Junior League of Santa Barbara for investing in the future of local youth and helping ensure they have the support they need to not just survive but thrive.

Together, we are building stronger futures and stronger communities.

Last week, members of our Development Team had the privilege of attending the Santa Maria Elks Rodeo Xtreme Bulls event as honored guests of SESLOC Federal Credit Union .

While they enjoyed the unexpected thrills in the ring and the energy of the crowd, what made the evening most memorable was getting to connect with SESLOC's team, including getting to meet the President & CEO, COO, and their Community Outreach Manager. As long-time FCNI partners, our team was grateful to spend some time with them and for the opportunity to thank them for including us in the event AND for all the ways their company strengthens our local community.

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was seeing a longtime Family Care Network volunteer be recognized for her years of dedicated service to both FCNI and our broader community by SESLOC. Her unwavering commitment to supporting children, youth, and families has touched countless lives, and it was incredibly moving to see her contributions celebrated publicly.

We extend our sincere thanks to SESLOC for their generous hospitality and for recognizing the people who make our community stronger through service. We are fortunate to have partners who understand that lasting impact is built through relationships, volunteerism, and a shared commitment to helping our most vulnerable members thrive.

Thank you, SESLOC, for an unforgettable evening and for all you do to support our community.

When young people navigate the transition from adolescence into adulthood, they face some of life's biggest questions:

Who am I? Where do I belong? What comes next?

For youth in foster care and young people from marginalized communities, these questions are often accompanied by additional challenges—uncertainty, instability, discrimination, or a lack of consistent support.

At Family Care Network, we see every day how necessary community can be for these vulnerable young individuals.

A supportive adult who shows up. A mentor who listens. A boss who invests in potential. A neighbor who welcomes. A community who says, "You are safe here. You belong here."

These connections help young people build confidence, strengthen their mental health, celebrate milestones, and pursue their goals.

As we recognize Pride Month, graduation season, and other important milestones, we celebrate the resilience of our young people while acknowledging the role each of us can play in helping them thrive.

Because every young person deserves more than survival—they deserve dignity, connection, opportunity, and a community who believes in them.

Your support amplified a powerful voice. 💙

Because of your generosity, a program participant received a speaking stipend to bravely share their personal story with a network of providers, helping to educate, inspire, and create deeper understanding for those we partner with of the challenges faced and the courage exhibited by those we serve.

Thank you for helping ensuring that those in our care feel seen, valued, and empowered to share their experiences in meaningful ways. This is how we end stigma and support
