The conversation continues on CBS 8 highlighting our "Men Who Show Up" campaign, a vital initiative dedicated to bringing more male mentors into the lives of young boys in our community.

Our incredible CEO, Tina Rose, was joined on the segment by Patrina Wisdom—a TEDx Speaker, bestselling author, founder of Pure Abundance Inc., and a proud BBBS mother who knows firsthand the life-changing impact of this mission. Her son shared a deeply moving reflection on how having a Big truly transformed his life:

"I think that the BBBS program was one of the better additions to my childhood, especially as someone who grew up without a real father figure for so long. It helped fill a role that was missing from my life and pushed me out of my comfort zone for the better. It was also really helpful for someone like me who didn't have many friends until late high school, and having someone who I knew would be around and effectively grew up with made that easier to deal with."

Stories like his are the driving force behind this campaign. There are young boys on our waitlist right now waiting for a mentor to step up. It doesn't take heroic expertise to change a young man's trajectory—it just takes a willingness to simply be there.

I have included photos of Patrina's sons with their "Big Brothers" below—swipe to see what it looks like when men choose to show up! 👉 Learn more about our program and watch our full segments here: https://sdbigs.org/showup/
