From graffiti to community art. 🎨✨

Over the past few weeks, our City Heights Youth Advocates worked together to design, plan, and paint this mural, learning about collaboration, creativity, and what it means to take pride in the spaces around us. Seeing them bring their ideas to life and transform this wall has been something really special!

Beautifying our neighborhood isn’t just about paint on a wall, it’s about creating spaces that reflect the strength, culture, and pride of City Heights.

A HUGE thank you to Rachel Venancio, the incredible artist behind this mural, for sharing your talent and allowing our youth to be part of the process. Your guidance made this experience unforgettable for them.

Thank you to Pop Up Winona for providing the space + Tootie Thomas for supporting youth creativity in our neighborhood. And of course, thank you to our amazing CHYA youth and volunteers for the energy, dedication, and heart you put into this project.

Light Our Way Banner Campaign Applications Are NOW Open! 🎓

It’s time to honor the amazing Class of 2026 seniors in City Heights! Do you know a graduating senior who’s worked hard and deserves to be recognized? Or are you a senior ready to celebrate this milestone?

We’re now accepting submissions for this year’s Light Our Way banners!

✨ Who’s eligible?
Graduating seniors who live in and/or attend high school in the City Heights community (Zip codes: 92104, 92105, 92115).

✨Who can submit a nomination?
Anyone! Seniors can put their own name forward, or nominations can come from friends, family members, educators, mentors, and community supporters.

✨ How to apply?
Complete the application—find the link in our bio or scan the QR code above.

🗓 Submission deadline:
March 31, 2026 at 5 PM
