๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŽถ ONE LAST SUENAMI โ€” AND ONE LAST BIG GREEN-BIN PUSH! ๐Ÿ’š

How did summer go by THIS fast?!

Sunday, September 6 at 5:00 PM marks the final Coronado Concert in the Park of the 2026 season, with Coronadoโ€™s own The Suenamis bringing their high-energy sound to Spreckels Park. ๐ŸŽธ๐ŸŒŠ

Letโ€™s send this wonderful summer tradition out on a GREEN note.

As you pack up your final concert picnic of the season, LOOK FOR THE GREEN BINS Emerald Keepers worked with the City of Coronado to add throughout Spreckels Park.

Instead of sending all of your picnic waste to the landfill, put organic material where it belongs:

๐Ÿ‰ Food scraps and leftovers
๐Ÿ• Empty pizza boxes
๐Ÿงป Paper napkins
๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Paper plates

It takes only a few extra seconds โ€” but collectively, those seconds add up.

Keeping organic waste out of the landfill helps reduce methane emissions. Material collected in the green bins can instead become compost used in landscaping or renewable natural gas that helps power EDCO trucks.

So when the Suenamis roll through Spreckels Park, letโ€™s create a different kind of wave too: ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’š

A wave of Coronado concertgoers choosing the GREEN BIN.

Music. Friends. Picnics. Summer nights. And one very simple habit that helps our environment.

Thatโ€™s a finale worth cheering for. ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒฟ

๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฆ‹ CALIFORNIA BIODIVERSITY DAY โ€” SEPTEMBER 7

Celebrate Coronadoโ€™s biodiversity!

California Biodiversity Day is Monday, September 7, with activities and opportunities to celebrate biodiversity across the state September 5โ€“13.

And thereโ€™s plenty we can do right here in Coronado. ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒฟ

Our gardens, yards, parks and open spaces are all part of a larger ecosystem โ€” providing food and habitat for birds, bees, butterflies and other wildlife.

Here are a few simple ways to help protect and support Coronadoโ€™s biodiversity:

๐ŸŒฟ Plant native plants. Native plants are adapted to our climate and provide important food and habitat for local wildlife and pollinators. They also typically require less water, maintenance and pesticides.

๐Ÿ Support our pollinators. Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinators depend on healthy, diverse plant life.

๐ŸŒฑ Remove invasive plants such as ice plant and ivy that can spread quickly and crowd out native species.

๐Ÿฆ‹ Avoid harmful chemicals and pesticides whenever possible. What we use in our gardens can affect insects, wildlife, soil, water and our broader coastal environment.

๐Ÿ‘€ Take time to notice whatโ€™s around us. Look for the birds, insects, flowers, native plants and other living things that share our island home. Appreciating biodiversity is an important first step toward protecting it.

๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒฟ HAS YOUR EMERALD KEEPERS MEMBERSHIP LAPSED? NOW IS A GREAT TIME TO RENEW!

A cleaner, greener and more resilient Coronado doesnโ€™t happen by accident. It happens because people in our community care enough to get involved โ€” and Emerald Keepers members help make that work possible.

๐ŸŒฟโšก CURIOUS ABOUT INDUCTION COOKING? TRY IT FREE FOR A WEEK!

Youโ€™ve probably heard people talking about induction cooktops โ€” but what actually makes them different?

Instead of heating a burner and then heating your pan, induction uses an electromagnetic field to heat compatible cookware directly. No open flame. No glowing heating element. The result? Cooking that is fast, responsive, energy-efficient and surprisingly precise.

Emerald Keepers is giving you the chance to try induction cooking at home before deciding whether itโ€™s right for you.

๐ŸŒฟ Why are so many people making the switch?

๐Ÿณ Faster cooking โ€” water can boil remarkably quickly.
๐Ÿ”ฅ Precise temperature control โ€” turn the heat up or down and the response is almost immediate.
๐Ÿ  Better indoor air quality than cooking with natural gas.
โšก Greater energy efficiency than conventional electric cooking.
๐Ÿ™Œ Easier cleanup thanks to the smooth glass surface.
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Reduced burn risk because the cooktop itself isnโ€™t heated by a traditional burner, although the surface can become warm from contact with a hot pan.

One thing to know: induction requires magnetic cookware. An easy test? If a magnet sticks firmly to the bottom of your pot or pan, thereโ€™s a good chance itโ€™s induction-compatible.

๐ŸŒŠ TRY IT FOR YOURSELF โ€” FREE!

Emerald Keepersโ€™ Induction Cooktop Lending Program lets you take a portable induction cooktop home and give it a real-world test in your own kitchen.

๐Ÿ“… Loans run Monday through Saturday.
1๏ธโƒฃ Choose an available Monday checkout date.
2๏ธโƒฃ Complete the reservation information.
3๏ธโƒฃ Youโ€™ll receive an email within 24 hours with pickup and return instructions.
4๏ธโƒฃ Cook, experiment and see what you think!

We think you just might LOVE it. ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒฟ PLUG IN. POWER UP. GO SOLAR?

Could generating solar power at home soon be as simple as plugging in a small solar system?

In today's Eagle & Journal, Emerald Keepers looks at plug-and-play solar and what this emerging clean-energy option could mean for Coronado.

โ˜€๏ธ Easier access to solar
โšก Clean energy generated at home
๐ŸŒฟ Another potential tool for a more sustainable future

Look for the Emerald Keepers page in Wednesdayโ€™s Eagle & Journal and learn more about what may be coming to Coronado.
