Bad Bunny, the 13-ish year old pigeon who lived in a tiny cage his whole life until he was relinquished to Moose’s Flock - has not only become our best and most joyous ambassabird but has also really embraced his new name. He’s got that main character energy and he’s teaching kids to see pigeons as creatures who deserve respect just like every living being on this planet.

Trolley George - the little youngster who was run over by the San Diego Trolley and saved by ARC Animal Rescue - went into the main Chaos Room at Moose’s Flock Summer Camp a few days ago. He has fully recovered from his ordeal which included a partial wing amputation, abrasions, a severe soft tissue injury to his leg and probably his back AND hemoparasites (parasites that live within the bloodstream). As always, Αθηνά Γιανοπούλος patched him up good and he’s now got a long, luxurious life ahead of him.

Javi is an intermittent bather. She also just came off a very hard molt. Today she took an EPIC bath in her favorite way - a sprayer - while being her usual territorial self. Javi is doing great after her surgery to remove foreign bodies (metal) impacted in her gizzard for many years prior to her coming to Moose’s Flock. Her new feathers are shinier than ever and her little white tail is no longer ragged from being confined to a cage. ❤️

Today the last 4 aviaries had their concrete bases poured. We still have a way to go before move-in but this was a big step. All the kudos to Ron Bocian for the hard work, endless attention to detail, unmatched enthusiasm and all the years of friendship leading up to this point. Couldn’t think of a better person for the job.

Happy Pigeon Appreciation Day. Thank you to everyone who helps us help these amazing birds, from vet care to rescuing to adopting to mental health support to making sure we have a social life now and then. You all are deeply appreciated & very much a part of what we do.
