4284 Cass Street San Diego CA 92109 Second Chance Dog Rescue is one of San Diego’s largest non-profit 501c3 organizations dedicated to saving homeless dogs.

We rescue, rehabilitate and re-home dogs, primarily from local shelters, as well as dogs surrendered by their owners for various reasons, and dogs from Baja California, Mexico. Once we receive a dog, we provide medical care, including spay and neuter, and any necessary rehabilitation.

We’re excited to see the Better Call Babs Film is coming to the big screen! 🎬🍿

Many of you have heard of Babs Fry, she's the remarkable woman who's mastered the skill of recovering lost dogs and who's assisted Second Chance Dog Rescue, San Diego, California any time we have a missing pup, Thankfully this doesn't happen often, but when it does it's all hands on deck and she is always our very first call. Her expertise in lost-dog recovery has helped reunite countless pets with their families, and we are so fortunate to know Babs is there when we need her help.

Premiering at the Dances With Films LA 2026 Festival, the riveting film documenting Babs' story will be presented at the legendary TCL Chinese Theatre, Hollywood in Hollywood on Thursday, June 25 at 4:15 PM. You'll laugh, you'll cry, but most of all you'll come away with a deep understanding of what goes into the physically and emotionally demanding and often extraordinary work she and her non-profit, A Way Home For Dogs do. Independent filmmakers Who Are You Films rode along with Babs for three years of pet recovery calls, documenting her unwavering dedication, patience and compassion. The Better Call Babs Film is truly an eye opening experience.

🐾 Foster Homes Needed for Chubby & Teddy! 🐾

These two sweet boys were recently rescued from euthanasia and are now looking for patient foster homes where they can continue to learn that the world is a safe place.

🤎 Chubby (white/brown)– 2-year-old, 10-pound Papillon/Terrier mix
🤍 Teddy (golden brown)– 1-year-old, 12-pound Terrier/Poodle mix

Both boys are neutered, dog-friendly, and making progress with their potty training. They are very shy and will need calm, patient foster homes willing to give them the time and reassurance they need to build confidence.

They can be fostered together or separately.

A wonderful emergency foster stepped up to save their lives and get them out of the shelter. Now it's time for the next chapter of their journey, and they need foster families to help them continue healing and preparing for their forever homes.

🐾 Foster or Adopter Needed for Winston! 🐾

Meet Winston, a 9-year-old, 12-pound Yorkie who refuses to act his age! This adorable little guy has plenty of pep in his step and loves playing fetch, chewing on his favorite toys, exploring the yard, and joining his people on walks and adventures.

When playtime is over, Winston transforms into the ultimate cuddle bug. He loves being close to his people and is happiest curled up in a lap or following his family from room to room.
