Thanks to your generosity and the Albertsons Companies Foundation's Nourish the American Dream campaign, San Diego Hunger Coalition raised $16,250 to support our work addressing childhood hunger in San Diego County. 🧡

Alongside 300+ nonprofit partners nationwide, the campaign surpassed its original $5 million goal — raising more than $12.2 million for childhood hunger relief across the country.

Every dollar raised here stays local. Your investment fuels our research, strengthens our advocacy, and deepens our work with 500+ community partners to make sure every young person in San Diego County has access to three nutritious meals per day.

The campaign may be over, but our work is far from over. If you'd like to keep supporting the fight to end hunger in San Diego, please join us!

Our team is growing — and so is our commitment to data-driven solutions for hunger in San Diego. 📊

We are thrilled to welcome Mila Dutton as our new Data Analyst. This new role reflects our ongoing investment in expanding our research capabilities and methodology.

Mila holds a Master of Science in Computational Social Science from UC San Diego and brings experience in healthcare and nonprofit research. Please join us in welcoming Mila to San Diego Hunger Coalition!

At SDHC, our research is the backbone of everything we do. It's how we track hunger and nutrition insecurity across every corner of San Diego County — and it's available for free to more than 500 partners working on the front lines of food access in our region. With Mila on the team, we will be better equipped to deepen this work and strengthen the data behind our advocacy and community outreach.

Last week, San Diego Hunger Coalition CEO Alondra Alvarado stood alongside a coalition of organizations to oppose Proposition 44, urging San Diegans to vote no this November.

Community clinics are more than healthcare providers. For many families facing language, transportation, or enrollment barriers, they are trusted access points to vital services — including CalFresh. Clinic caseworkers and navigators provide culturally and linguistically tailored support that helps eligible families put food on the table.

Our community is already at a tipping point. Federal cuts threaten between 67,000 and 96,000 San Diegans with the loss of their CalFresh benefits. At the same time, we know that roughly 190,000 San Diegans qualify for CalFresh but aren't yet enrolled.

If Prop. 44 forces clinics to cut the very staff who help families find their way to food assistance, this will threatened our already weak safety net and it’s something our community cannot afford.

Vote NO on Proposition 44.

We had the sweetest time representing San Diego Hunger Coalition at the 3rd Annual Sammy's Messy Sundae Challenge! 🍨🧡

A huge shoutout to our team — Andrew Chousal, AmeriCorps VISTA Education & Outreach Specialist, and Mari Pili Becerra, SDHC Board Member and VP of US Digital Sales at Entravision Communications — for getting creative with the sundae making and bringing so much energy and heart to the competition.

While we didn't walk away with the winning sundae, we did walk away with something just as meaningful. A huge thank you to Seven Mile Casino and La Voz San Diego for the opportunity to share our mission with the South County community and $500 to support our work toward a Hunger Free San Diego.

Congratulations to all the nonprofits who participated and to the winning team from Southwestern Community College District Foundation. Events like these remind us that when community comes together, everyone wins. ⭐
