Downtown Sounds returns on May 19 with an unforgettable evening featuring the Danny Green Trio Plus Strings at Union Hall Gallery.

Blending jazz, classical, and Brazilian influences, pianist and composer Danny Green joins Art of Elan musicians for a vibrant collaboration full of rich textures, lyrical storytelling, and dynamic improvisation. Over the past decade, Green has earned acclaim from DownBeat Magazine, Jazziz, the Boston Globe, Public Radio International, and more, along with multiple San Diego Music Awards.

A special moment for our Young Artists in Harmony community 🎼

On May 13, the East County Youth Symphony will present the world premiere of Land of the Free, a powerful new orchestral work by 21 year old composer and ECYS alumnus Oluwaloba “Loba” Salami at the Joan B. Kroc Theater.

As a former ECYS violinist and Young Artists in Harmony alum, Loba’s journey makes this premiere especially meaningful. Written in honor of the 250th Anniversary of the United States, Land of the Free is a bold two movement symphonic work performed by the ECYS Advanced Orchestra, celebrating the voices and talents of young artists in our community.

We’re honored to celebrate Loba and this incredible milestone alongside our friends at ECYS, whose mission continues to provide tuition free orchestral training and opportunities for young musicians across San Diego.

Congratulations, Loba! We can’t wait to hear this remarkable new work come to life.
