🐾 Update for Anyone Traveling with Dogs from Mexico to the U.S. 🇲🇽➡️🇺🇸

I’ve been following the new screwworm regulations closely, and while requirements are still in place, the process has become much more manageable than when the rules were first announced.

If you’re crossing the border with your dog, you’ll generally need:

✅ A CDC Dog Import Form
✅ A microchip
✅ A healthy dog free of visible illness
✅ A screwworm inspection certificate completed by an authorized veterinarian in Mexico within 5 days of crossing

The good news is that obtaining the screwworm certificate is now much easier, as authorized veterinarians in Mexico can issue the required documentation.

As someone who regularly transports dogs, I appreciate that these measures help protect animal health while still allowing responsible pet owners and rescue organizations to travel with their beloved companions.

Screwworm is a very real and serious threat to animals, and I’m glad it’s being taken seriously. At the same time, it’s reassuring to know there is a clear process in place for healthy dogs to travel safely.

🐶❤️ Safe travels to everyone crossing with their furry family members! Please be sure to check current requirements before traveling, as regulations can change.
