History of the SBPOA | 1905

The San Bernardino Police Department’s story began in 1905, when Mayor H.M. Barton and the city council established a new police force of eight officers. More than a century later, that legacy of service continues through the men and women who protect and serve San Bernardino.

A proud history. A lasting commitment to service.

Before there was a modern police department, San Bernardino’s growing community already needed people to keep the peace. 👮‍♂️

In 1853, Bud Rollins became the first law officer of the San Bernardino settlement. 🕰️
