Civitan Club of Salisbury

Since 1922, the Civitan Club of Salisbury has brought together local people who want to make their community a better place to live, work and raise families.

The Civitan Club of Salisbury (Club #80) was founded August 15, 1922 - just five years after the creation of the original Civitan Club in Birmingham, Alabama - by a group of local businessmen who decided to join together to improve our local community. Civitans are especially involved in Special Olympics events, but we participate in, volunteer for and help to raise money to support charitable act

At today's meeting, we heard from Sandra Toscano and Chad Pupillo, owners of the beautiful Bonaparte Castle property in Salisbury. They lovingly restored this dilapidated home into an Event Center, Boutique Hotel and Tavern. You can learn more at their website. https://www.bonapartecastle.com/

This week's program was presented by Valerie Steele, Airport and Rowan Transit Director for the county. Valerie briefed the club on what's new and upcoming at the Mid-Carolina Regional Airport and within the Transit Dept. Prior to the program, E.D. Cook was presented with his 45 Year Membership pin by club president Chanaka Yatawara.

What a meeting we had yesterday! First, we presented a Servant's Heart Award to Taylor Stapleton, EC Teacher at West Rowan Elementary School. That was followed by a review of the recent All In Summit, presented by Junior Civitan International President Baxter Heilig.

This week's program was presented by Sarah Brown and Sara Cline of the Rowan-Salisbury Schools Exceptional Children's Department. They shared with us the resources and programs available to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Once again, Civitans were well represented at the Special Olympics Rowan County Spring Games (Part II)! In addition to 15 members from the Salisbury club, we had 2 Faith Civitans assisting with Awards. It was a beautiful day and a great time was had by all.
