JJ gets his own post today..💙

This sweet, sweet boy is the last of his litter.. all his siblings have gone to their new homes..

Every week he watches all the other fosters leave, every week he gets older and bigger and his chances diminish.. just a simple fact, most adopters are just drawn to the younger kittens.. his chances are slimmer every week.. he’s been the shy kitten at the events and the meets..

We had a meet today and he was surprisingly very social and playful! He showed his true colors! But, he’s still available for adoption.. we need a village to help this sweet boy find his forever family!! 💙

He’s actually a very playful, curious, sweet guy in foster care!! He just needs a chance! He will make an amazing kitty in any situation!! 💙

💔 A sad update on our sweet CVS boy…

For everyone who followed his story last weekend, I wish I had a happier update.

When we pulled him from that CVS parking lot, he was severely emaciated and incredibly sick — literally a walking skeleton. We knew we were taking on a tough one, but we wanted to give him a chance.

For the past week, we’ve done everything we could. Under our vet’s guidance, he received fluids every day and lots and lots of supportive care. His bloodwork, surprisingly, didn’t give us a clear reason for why he was so sick. Nothing really jumped out other than the possibility of FeLV.

For a few days, we saw the tiniest bit of improvement, and we really hoped maybe we were turning a corner.

Then Thursday came, and he started going downhill. He stopped eating completely.

Today, we made the decision to let him go. 💔

I’ve always believed euthanasia can be one of the greatest gifts we can give an animal when they’re suffering. As heartbreaking as that decision is, I would rather be a minute too early than a second too late. I never want one of our animals to suffer longer simply because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye.

And even though we couldn’t save him, I hope he knew he was loved.

He got a soft bed for the week, even though he protested the entire concept of being comfortable. 😂

He got a smorgasbord of every kind of food I could think of.

He got lots of chin scratches.

Lots of soft words.

Lots of people rooting for him.

And most importantly, he got to spend his last days warm, safe, and cared for.

He didn’t have to die alone in a CVS parking lot.

He got to know what it felt like to be someone’s boy, even if it was only for a week.

We like to think his journey across the Rainbow Bridge — and his suffering — was shorter than a CVS receipt. 🌈💔

Thank you to everyone who donated toward his first vet visit. You helped give this boy a chance, and you helped make his last week a whole lot better than the life he had been living.

We will need to cover his euthanasia and cremation, and I hate asking for help again. So I’m not really asking. ❤️ But if someone wants to help us bring him home one last time and have his ashes here with me, I would be incredibly grateful.

He deserves to finally be at rest.

And I want him to come home.

Rest easy, sweet boy. You were here. You were loved. And you mattered. ❤️🌈

Full Circle 🥹❤️

Y’all remember Baby Gerald? The tiny bottle baby who grew up in his incubator and who I obviously foster failed on? 😂 He’s my son now. No regrets.

Well, today we took in another tiny baby named Doug — and he’s in Gerald’s old incubator.

Of course Gerald had to come over and check him out. 🥹

There’s just something about seeing the kitten who once needed that incubator now looking in on another baby who needs it. ❤️ It really feels full circle.

And NO, before anyone asks — I am NOT keeping Doug. 😂 I don’t care how cute he is. I have learned my lesson. I am strong. I have boundaries.

…probably.

Rescue never ends. There’s always another tiny life that needs a chance. And sometimes, the babies we saved get to be part of saving the next ones. ❤️🐾
