This chilly weather has us thinking about all the cozy winter veggies we'll have in our 2026-2027 Winter Harvest boxes! Sign up for a subscription at www.breadriot.org/winterharvest by Nov. 1 to get local fresh produce all winter long—and support your local farmers!

This year our Winter Harvest program will provide boxes of seasonal produce, plus optional eggs and bread, over 8 Thursdays from mid-November to early April. Each box will feature a variety of winter greens, vegetables and other produce sourced by Bread Riot from local farms. Subscribers pick up their boxes on designated Thursdays, 3–5:30 pm, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salisbury. Local delivery is available for an additional fee.

Don’t miss out! Sign-up deadline is November 1. Payment in full is due November 15.

It’s time for another season of School Harvest Bags! We love how this program puts fresh, local produce into the hands of 30+ Rowan County students and their families from October to April each year.

This week, the School Harvest Bags contain kale, radishes, zucchini, yellow squash, bell peppers, green beans, tomatoes, red onions, apples and eggs—plus a sheet of recipe suggestions and prep/storage tips for easy reference.

All of this beautiful produce was sourced locally from Seven Sisters Farm, Barbee Farm, Correll Farm, Pruitt Farm, Elium Farm, Downing Farm and Swaim Family Farm.

Thank you to today’s volunteers and coordinators: Terri, Debbie H., Catherine, Kevin, Barb, Caren, Debbie L., and Trish. And thank you to the generous local organizations who provide the funding for this program. We appreciate you!

Yesterday was a truly special day, and we hope you were able to join us. From a perfect sunny afternoon to dancing under the harvest moon, it was filled with so much good music, local food, generosity and community. 🎸🥙 🤗
