On December 15, 2025, the Salem School Committee will vote to close a Salem elementary school next school year to save money. ​​Make your voice heard and demand that Salem schools stay open.​

REMINDER: Please be advised that due to the volume of visitors expected in Salem on Saturday, October 25 and to the city's increased focus on public safety related measures, residents should anticipate additional street closures and increased use of hard barricades throughout the city. Most closures are expected to be in place by noon on Saturday.

Sunday, October 26, may also see further street closures as needed. To support these traffic changes, additional “No Parking” zones will be posted in the downtown area. Please observe all parking restrictions - towing will be enforced citywide throughout the weekend.

Please note that Hawthorne Boulevard and/or Derby Street may also be closed to vehicle traffic as conditions require.

Let’s spread the word about the best FREE parking in town! These designated lots offer visitors a convenient and cost-free place to park, while helping to keep cars off our neighborhood side streets. By encouraging guests to use these lots, we can reduce congestion, protect our residents, and keep everyone safer.

Free shuttles run to and from the lots, giving visitors an easy, stress-free way to reach downtown without walking through traffic-filled areas.
