partnered with Creative Collective to distribute a survey to its members. The Creative Collective’s members include individuals that work in the creative economy.
71% of the participants identified as female, 17% identified as male, and 12% who identified as agender/gender fluid/transgender/non-binary or did not respond. The respondents’ racial identity are identified as follows: 4% Asian American, 6% Black or African American, 11% Hispanic, 75% white, and 7% identified with another racial identity.
Among the respondents who participated, 49% of the respondents identified that they were in the fine arts industry (painting, ceramics, craft), 25% were in graphic design, 20% in photography, 16% were writers, and 14% were in the performing arts. The majority of the individuals that were surveyed had more than one creative industry or profession. Out of the 109 people that were surveyed, 53 (49%) worked in the fine arts (painting, ceramics, craft, sculpture), 22 (20%) worked in photography, and 15 (14%) worked in the performing arts.
We found that 47% of respondents were likely or very likely to exhibit their work in a communal space.
Respondents were asked to describe their ideal work environment in three words, which were later aggregated and placed in a word cloud. The primary words are bright, open, spacious, comfortable, collaborative, clean, quiet, communal, friendly, and private.
