Our other 2026 LEAF Instructional Excellence award went to Dianne Villalobos, Spanish teacher at Tech High School! As one parent of St. Cloud Area School District 742 students said to Dianne:

"ISD 742 teachers are phenomenal! You’ve given (them) your heart as you have prepared them for many future opportunities!"

Thank you, Dianne, for the many lives you have affected in our community and beyond.

Our other 2026 LEAF Coaching/Advising Excellence awardee is Karlyn Doyle, coach of North Junior High School Future Problem Solving/Community Problem Solving. What is FPS? Their mission: To teach a process for identifying and resolving problems in a practical, informed, and timely manner with respect to our situation today and our world tomorrow. Under Karlyn's direction, many teams have gone on to regional, state, and national competitions!

Karlyn has given years to this program and said at our awards night that her students are so important to her and her husband. She loves the bonds formed in FPS and shared many stories of her students continuing to do amazing things in our community, state, nation, and world as they grow up and lean into who they are. Karlyn is someone who is always herself, and her students feel that and trust her. We are so of Karlyn and her FPS students.

One of our 2026 LEAF Coaching/Advising Excellence awardees is Dan Stoterau, former head boys' soccer coach at Tech High School! St. Cloud Tech Boys Soccer is an extremely strong program, and that is in part thanks to the heart and commitment Dan showed the boys and families each of his seasons. At our awards night, Dan credited his parents (who were in the audience) for preparing him to be a successful coach and just an all-around kind and determined human:) This type of inter-generational energy is what makes LEAF and our community strong and resilient!

Our other 2026 George & Shirley Torrey Award for Charitable Giving awardee is this dynamic husband/wife duo: Mike Schlough and Becky Bastein. They are regular LEAF donors, and Becky is on our Board. They own a local business and truly believe that part of their role in this community is to give back in ways that make a difference in their neighbors' lives. Having kids in St. Cloud Area School District 742 means they see firsthand the impact LEAF has on our schools. We are so thankful for community members and friends like Becky and Mike who remind us that, truly, leaning into pride for the St. Cloud area creates goodness for all of us.

One of our 2026 George & Shirley Torrey Award for Charitable Giving awardees are our friends at Bethlehem Lutheran Church! When we started our Feeding 742 Kids program in the fall, the folks of Bethlehem were major donors and partners in this effort. It was a truly amazing display of how community generosity begets more community generosity. The laundry list of what their partnership has done for St. Cloud Area School District 742 students is truly staggering - and all of this only since October:

*Youth packed snack bags for North Jr. High students
*Members packed rice into smaller bags to make Costco-sized bags work for us
*Congregation folks brought stacks of food for our pantries to the church
*A congregation member made a large match donation that members exceeded in just a few weeks
*Because of this donation, LEAF was able to access other statewide and national funding

That's the thing about leaning into community. What you choose to do creates a domino effect. Your $5 or box of cereal shows your neighbors that every bit of the goodness counts.

Over the next couple of days we want to share with you more about our 2026 LEAF Award winners! First up, one of our donors and volunteers, Peggy Carlson. She is our 2026 Phil Welter Volunteer Service award recipient.

Peggy recently retired from being our Grants Administrator and continues to be our Feeding 742 Kids Pantry Coordinator. She loves to share how she is continuing the work of caring for her community that she learned from her parents, especially her dad. We are thankful for her generous spirit and keen eye to detail. LEAF is a stronger organization because of her time and talents❤

What a joyful night at Quarryview's Early Childhood’s Spring Fling!

Over 100 kiddos boarded our mobile library to pick out a book to take home. Judging by the many kids who didn’t want to leave, the event was a huge success. Families enjoyed an evening full of fun, literacy, and connection.

The magical PAKRAT bus continues to inspire a love of reading and literacy in St. Cloud Area School District 742 students and families, and we are so grateful for this incredible program. Thank you to everyone who helped create such a meaningful evening for our community☺️
