Today, we honor Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice and equality.

At Anna Marie’s Alliance, we recognize that building safe, violence-free communities requires a commitment to equity, dignity, and respect for all people. As we reflect on this important day in history, we also acknowledge the work that continues to create a future where everyone can live free from violence, oppression, and fear.

We recently welcomed some very special visitors to the Maxine Barnett Courtyard. With deep gratitude, we thank everyone whose generous donations helped make this beautiful space possible in honor of an extraordinary woman in our community.

As the first Executive Director of Anna Marie's Alliance, Maxine Barnett's compassion, leadership and advocacy helped build the foundation of our agency. Her vision and dedication to supporting victim-survivors of relationship abuse continue to inspire and guide our work every day. The Maxine Barnett Courtyard stands as a lasting tribute to her legacy - a space for reflection, healing, and hope. We are honored to celebrate her impact and carry her mission forward each day. 💜

At Anna Marie’s Alliance, we understand that the effects of relationship abuse can be complex and long-lasting. That’s why we provide services that recognize the impact of trauma, build trust, and empower individuals and families to make choices that support their healing journey.

We remember Anonymous, the eighth confirmed victim of intimate partner homicide in Minnesota in 2026.

Anonymous was killed by her partner in May. She has been publicly named, but the circumstances of her death have not been publicly connected to her name. Out of respect for her, she is being honored anonymously until or if these circumstances are publicly announced by the media.

She deserved safety, respect, and love. Our hearts are with her loved ones.
