This week's ASL Storytime at Cross Bayou Elementary School was filled with smiles, learning, and a lot of emotions. ❤️
As this school building prepares to close, we can’t help but reflect 25+ years of the Deaf Literacy Center working alongside the Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and families at Cross Bayou. These halls hold so many memories of children learning language, building confidence, creating friendships, and growing into amazing young people.
Today’s beach-themed ASL storytime brought plenty of laughter and fun with vocabulary activities, comprehension practice, hands-on learning, and creative beach crafts. Each child also received a beach-themed take-home craft kit to keep the learning and fun going at home. 🌊🏖️☀️
We are so grateful for every child, family, teacher, and memory that has been part of this journey. Seeing kids learn, laugh, communicate, and build literacy together is what makes these moments so meaningful.
Although it is hard to say goodbye to this building, we are excited for a new beginning and look forward to continuing this journey next school year at Walsingham Oaks Elementary. 💙
