Hi, This is Linda's daughter, Marilyn, sharing for my mom. Since Dec. 1, 2025, Mom has been living at Colliers at Countryside ALF. Her cat, Sunny, and her piano went with her, and she has continued to bless those around her, sharing the love of Jesus and playing music on the beautiful baby grand piano in their lobby.
Mom has been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes - now insulin dependent, and Dementia which has now become Alzheimers. She has experience significant cognitive and memory loss since her last post FB post. We have struggled to control her diabetes, because she just can't give up cookies, cake, chocolate, and ice cream, but that's my mom! But Mom is loved by the staff and residents at Colliers because of her cheerful and loving personality. She still prays for everyone and reminds them that Jesus loves them.
She has been hospitalized several times in 2026, mostly due to high blood glucose, but twice in the last 2 weeks because her blood glucose dropped too low. The first time, she passed out because it went down to 10 (not a typo), and the 2nd time because it dropped to 26. She seems to be sleepy all the time, often sleeping through lunch/dinner. (Those who know her well, know she is a night owl and isn't awake for breakfast on her best day.) Her blood sugar was dropping because she wasn't eating enough and receiving insulin which removed too much sugar from her system. I am so thankful that she has not experienced strokes or stroke related impairments.
This week, her care team at the ALF made the decision to move her to the Life Guidance (memory care) unit at Colliers. Friday, we moved mom and her cat to Room LG 115, and her piano to the common area of the LG unit. A dear friend, Chrissy, spent all day with her on Thursday, and she and mom asked me to post the attached photo and video with her family and friends. Enjoy!
