As our 2025–2026 year officially comes to a close, we’d like to thank Madame President Robin Burk for her leadership, dedication, and service to the Department of Florida this past year. ❤️

With one successful year behind us, we now look ahead with excitement to all that 2026–2027 will bring under the leadership of Madame President Linda Knoblach-Harkness! Here’s to another year of mission, service, and success across the Department of Florida.

And just like that, ALA National Convention 2026 is a wrap! ✨

District 16 is representing in Louisville, Kentucky! ✈️🇺🇸✨

Members of our Mighty 16th District are here at American Legion Auxiliary National Convention, alongside members from across Florida, proudly representing our Department and the Sunshine State!🌞

While we’ve definitely been having some fun exploring Louisville, we’ve also been busy learning, networking, sharing ideas, and connecting with Auxiliary members from across the country. We’ll be heading home with plenty of memories and some great new ideas for working our programs and continuing to strengthen our mission. 💙

And let’s just say… Florida will definitely be bringing home some hardware (and probably some fascinators too🤣)! We’re keeping the details a surprise so Madame President Robin can share and celebrate those accomplishments with everyone at Fall Conference. 🤫❤️🏆

Tomorrow is another exciting day as we cast our votes and elect our National Officers for the 2026–2027 administrative year!🇺🇸

We’re proud to represent District 16 and the Department of Florida on the national level.

September is Su***de Prevention Month, and it’s an important reminder that sometimes being there for someone can make all the difference!

The American Legion’s Be the One initiative encourages each of us to take an active role in supporting the veterans in our lives:

💜ASK how they’re really doing.
🩵LISTEN when they need someone to talk to.
💜REACH OUT when you notice someone may be struggling.

You don’t have to have all the answers. Sometimes simply checking in, listening without judgment, and reminding someone that they matter can be a powerful first step.

Throughout September, we wear teal and purple to help raise awareness for su***de prevention and to remind others that help and hope are available.

Today we celebrate 110 years of service, sacrifice, and dedication from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.🇺🇸

Since August 29, 1916, Reserve Marines have stood ready to answer the call, supporting our nation, strengthening our communities, and carrying forward the proud traditions of the Marine Corps.

Happy Birthday to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, and thank you to every Marine who has served and continues to serve.

District 16: Purple Heart Day Recap 💜

On August 7th, ALAFL District 16 President Dee Touhey and ALAFL National Security Chair Cheryl Adams attended the City of Dunedin’s 18th Annual Purple Heart Day Recognition Ceremony at Purple Heart Park.

Dunedin holds the special designation of being Florida’s first Purple Heart City, and this meaningful ceremony honored the brave men and women who served our country and were wounded in combat or made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. 🇺🇸

Thank you to the City of Dunedin and everyone who came together to recognize our Purple Heart recipients and their families. We are grateful to live in a community that remains committed to honoring and supporting our military and veterans.

Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.💜
