Well the boys met a new friend tonight. His name is Nomie. He is very festive and patriotic. Strangely, the boys were on their best behavior tonight before we left on our last visit for the night.

A Home Away From Home at Ronald McDonald House! ❤️🏠💛

After touring Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital today, Department President Linda, and Department of FL & District 16 leadership headed over to the Ronald McDonald House located inside the hospital!

Did you know there are 4 Ronald McDonald House locations in the Tampa Bay area and 8 RMHC chapters throughout Florida⁉️

So, what exactly does Ronald McDonald House do?🤔

Their mission is to provide a home away from home for families with children receiving medical treatment, offering a comfortable place to stay, meals, and support services so families can focus on what matters most…being there for their child. ❤️

Some families stay for just a day, while others stay for weeks or even months. One of the most incredible things we learned? Families don’t have to provide a checkout date! They can focus on their child’s medical journey without the added pressure of knowing exactly when they’ll be going home.

AND YES… ROUNDING UP AT McDONALD’S REALLY DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!🍟

We learned just how impactful those few extra cents can be. Nationwide, McDonald’s customers contribute MILLIONS of dollars through the Round-Up program, helping keep these homes running and families together.

A Small change resulting in a BIG impact! 💛

One of the biggest takeaways from today’s visit was that we often think about the patients receiving treatment, but forget how deeply a child’s hospitalization affects the entire family.

Ronald McDonald House makes those families a priority, providing comfort, stability, and a place to call home during some of life’s most difficult moments.

What an incredible and educational experience today! Thank you to the wonderful staff for showing us firsthand the impact these programs have on families in need.

A Special Stop on Department President Linda’s District 16 Tour today! ❤️🏥

Today, we had the incredible opportunity to tour Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, guided by the amazing Foundation “A Team”!

We visited several areas of the hospital, including a pediatric cardiac unit, where young patients were eagerly awaiting today’s Reverse Trick-or-Treat! 🎃🍬

Since many of these children cannot leave their rooms, and some cannot even leave their beds, hospital staff dressed in their Halloween best and brought the fun directly to them with candy, toys, and plenty of smiles!

Did you know this hospital has roots in The American Legion?❤️

The hospital’s history dates back to 1926, when members of American Legion Post 14 helped establish the American Legion Hospital for Children. Their vision was to provide a place where ALL children could receive medical care, regardless of race, gender, or ability to pay.

100 years later, that mission has grown into something extraordinary!💙

Today, Johns Hopkins All Children’s is a world-renowned pediatric hospital, complete with dedicated education and research facilities and specialists who treat children from around the globe.

✨There are 11 different outpatient centers across the state of Florida✨

Some of the most memorable moments of our visit were seeing the incredible ways staff go above and beyond for their patients. From personalized Halloween decorations on each child’s door to individualized treatment goals, special activity centers for the family members of those being treated, and even patients earning special beads to celebrate their milestones, every detail reflected compassion, encouragement, and exceptional care. 🥰

This visit was a powerful reminder of WHY we do what we do through our Children & Youth program and just how much of a difference donations and community support can make.

Thank you to the Foundation team and hospital staff for such an eye-opening and educational experience!

Horan Park was filled with excited trick-or-treaters showing off their spooktacular costumes and enjoying some Halloween fun! 🍬🕸️

A HUGE shoutout to Unit 305 – St. Pete Beach and Unit 158 – Treasure Island for coming together to support our local Children & Youth!💜

Way to put one of our four pillars into ACTION and show our community what M.A.S.H. – Mission Auxiliary Serving Heroes is all about!

MADAME DEPARTMENT PRESIDENT HAS LANDED…SHE HAS LANDED!🚨

Department of FL President Linda Knoblach-Harkness officially kicked off her tour of the Mighty 16th District with a wonderful brunch at Post 173 in Holiday, hosted by Auxiliary Units 173, 335, and 79!

Members from all three Units came together to welcome Madame President and start her weekend visit with great food, fellowship, and plenty of Auxiliary camaraderie!💙

District 16 Our Heroes Need Your Help!!

We have troops from the 54th infantry battalion arriving home this Saturday 10/31/2026 at the St Pete/Clearwater Airport. They will be arriving at 2:30 & 4:00 pm. that day. Per our military contact, this deployment was rather rough so, we need to show them some love. It would be greatly appreciated if we could get as many American Legion Family members there with Welcome Home signs, flags and balloons 🎈. Please spread the word!!

This past week, members from Units 14, 119, and 252 came together as one Auxiliary family to give back to our Veterans!🇺🇸

From helping facilitate bingo games to sharing laughter, smiles, and quality time, these members showed that sometimes the simplest acts of kindness make the biggest difference. 🥰

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to remind our Veterans that they are appreciated, valued, and never forgotten!

Attention, Brigade 16! All hands-on deck!

The countdown is ON! We have just 54 days remaining to reach our next membership goal of 75% by December 16th! It's time to shift into high gear, rally our troops, and put our M.A.S.H. mission into action!

District 17 is currently running 10 percentage points ahead of us, but this race is far from over! We have the determination, teamwork, and fighting spirit to close that gap. Every renewal, every new member, and every personal connection brings us one step closer to victory!
