These trails lead walkers into the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge from two subdivisions that surround the refuge marshland. This area is in the eastern part of S**o, near the shore.

Weekend Trail Spotlight: Horton Woods🌲🥾

This 100-acre wildlife preserve comprises a diverse confluence of ecological habitats including upland softwood and hardwood forest, marsh, stream, vernal pools, bog, and evidence of a pre-historic landslide. Five well-marked trails wind through the property's mixed woodland forest and provide views of Stackpole Creek. Come take a crisp early Fall walk and touch some grass😊🌱

4th time is a charm! ✨All are welcome as we complete our work on Middle Goosefare Trail with a Trail Work Party on Saturday, September 19th.
Bring your water, good attitude, and a buddy or two as we need all hands to finish up our accesible pathways along the trail. See you there! 💪🌲

Weekend Trail Spotlight: Ferry Landing Trail 🌲🥾
School is back in session so recoup and relax with an enchanting forest stroll while the summer weather holds! This short loop trail starts and ends on Ferry Road, just a few hundred yards west of Camp Ellis. Keep an eye out for the three large tupelo trees, a rare sight for Maine! The trail winds through a mixed hardwood-softwood forest and offers a peaceful escape.
