Kindness Rock Garden Service– Sunday, July 19

We hope this message finds you taking gentle care of yourselves.

Like so many in our community, many of us are carrying heavy hearts this week. Our church has gathered in prayer and vigil following the tragic loss of a member of our wider Biddeford community, and many are continuing to process grief, sadness, anger, and uncertainty.

As we gather for our Kindness Rock Garden on Sunday, we hope we can offer one another something we all need right now—a quiet space to create, to breathe, to connect, and simply to be together in community. Small acts of kindness cannot erase pain, but they can remind us that compassion, hope, and love continue to exist, even in difficult times.

Some of the rocks we create will become part of our Kindness Rock Garden, while others may be brought to the vigil site as simple messages of love, healing, and solidarity for our neighbors.

We will also begin our morning as we always do by lighting our chalice and candles together. This week, we'll continue to hold a moment of silence as we gather, honoring the life that was lost, those who grieve, and our shared commitment to building a community rooted in love, justice, and compassion. During Sunday's worship service, 100% of the offering will be donated to the Maine Solidarity Fund, offering another way for our congregation to respond with compassion and support.

UUCSB families,
As we move into summer and our regular RE programming takes a seasonal pause, we wanted to share a local family-friendly opportunity that may be of interest.

Riverbend Retreat Campground and Common Roots Studio are hosting a free Community Art Bus event on Saturday, June 27th from 1:30–5:00 PM. Participants can choose a creative project, make it on-site, and bring it home. The event welcomes all ages and abilities and is open to the public.

We love opportunities that encourage creativity, connection, and community, and thought some of our families might enjoy gathering for an afternoon of art and fun.

Please see the attached flyer for details

Wishing everyone a joyful and adventure-filled summer!
