A HUGE Thank You to everyone who supported the Marty's Place 5th Annual Golfing Fore Feed event last Saturday! ⛳️

Even though the rain made golfing a bit more challenging than usual, the weather couldn't dampen the spirits of everyone in attendance. We could not keep Marty's dream alive without the support of everyone who came to golf, eat and win some prizes! As always, we are beyond grateful for our incredible volunteers, generous sponsors, and kind donors.
We did not get many photos due to the rain, so if you did take any please feel free to share them below. ⬇️

What an absolute honor it was to be recognized today at the Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD) Opening Day event! On top of being an honoree, we are incredibly grateful to be the chosen charity for this year's event.

Marty's dream was to open his property to facilitate these unique human-animal interactions, ensuring that they are accessible to everyone, especially those with special needs.

We have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life, which makes receiving this award even more meaningful. What a wild ride these past 8 years have been!
Thank you to everyone at the MISD for your support and generosity~ this truly is a dream come true.

One of the main things that Marty was known for was his German shepherds. Everyone knew him as that guy driving around with five dogs hanging out the windows of his Suburban. When Marty passed he left behind four; Bear, Tipton, Major, and LT. Bear and Tipton were already up there in age, but we were able to get another couple of years with them at the farm before their passing. This year major and LT turned 12 years old.

What a blessing it has been to be able to keep Marty's dogs in their home to spend the rest of their days. These dogs have been truly loved over the years by both visitors and volunteers, and have been such a special part of Marty's place.

Unfortunately, last week we had to make the hard decision to put LT to rest.

LT was supposed to stand for lieutenant, but "little trouble" was more fitting. No dog bed would go unchewed, and no dirt would be undisrupted with her around. She was the goofiest dog who always slept on her back with her legs straight up in the air.

Now we are left with one special dog. Major and LT were litter mates, so this is a tough transition for both him and us. If you come out to the farm, be sure to give Major some extra love and maybe a treat or two.

Rest easy, T. 🐾🤍

A wonder-full time was had by all today at our last Stories With Steph of the summer!
After reading ‘Wonder Walkers’, the kiddos explored the sanctuary looking for different things. The key here was that the kids got to use their own imaginations to figure out which items matched the description on the card.
