Incredibly touched to receive thank you notes from our amazing student volunteers from Romeo Middle School. Especially when we are the ones that are so thankful for their time and engagement!

It’s been a wonderful experience having 7th graders volunteer with us this school year, and we’re already looking forward to continuing this connection into future school years.

With great thanks for our partnership with Romeo United Methodist Church, we are getting ready to build shelving in the basement that will greatly improve our sorting and storing process for clothing and shoes. As new donations come in, clothes need to be sorted by size and season before we can fill shelves and racks in the shop. Shelves with larger storage bins will streamline our whole process and maximize time with our awesome volunteers.

We have a fundraising goal of $1,300 to accomplish this project. We continue to be so grateful for our Romeo community and the surrounding area. All of the clothing donations that have poured in since we opened in the summer of 2024 have impacted so many families already. 🎉 A huge thank you to Romeo Community Schools & Romeo Middle School for their committment to helping students engage with Non-Profits in the community.

We’re thrilled to share that we now have 7th graders coming weekly to the shop to learn about what we do and the why behind this project.

It’s only our third week in, and these students are engaged, curious, respectful and such a tremendous help to our organization! We’ve already heard such great conversation happening during our time together - can’t wait to continue this amazing opportunity to give RMS students a chance to support families right here in our community. What a great way to kick off 2026 at Romeo Open Handed!!
