At the RCCC Awards dinner two weeks ago CERT Awards of Excellence were presented to Herman Lamb Kaufman county lead and myself Hunt county lead.

Coordinated eight CERT team members from Rowlett and EastTex Regional CERT as we supported the Majors Field Armed Forces Day Fly-In and Historic Aircraft Display. Had thirteen aircraft make an appearance with three giving rides.
Team arrived in site at 0700 and got setup, attended event safety brief and deployed to assigned event locations. Team supported remote parking area, staffed a roadblock, pulled and setup tables/chairs, marshaled four food trucks to their assigned parking location,and ran entry control at main gate by AirEvac 67.
Before gates opened team supported first of three AirEvac callouts during the day by closing entry gate and keeping event attendees 200' back during each of the takeoff and landings.
And yes everyone, I finally did eat the lunch they provided us..........after I got home and got truck unpacked.

Coordinated CERT support with members of EastTex and Rowlett CERT during the Royse City Celebrate Freedom event. Was a new location for event with a much larger area to cover, but plus side there was alot more surface parking for people. It was quite windy all evening which helped with the heat but made the fireworks show quite sporty for the fire crews. Team had a great location with fire and EMS next to us with Royse City PD right across from us.
Took notes on how to better support event next year, but overall it was great evening for everyone. Main take away is better coordinated setup and support for the overflow parking area in field.
Many deeps thanks to the CERT Volunteers who came out to support event. We were really short staffed for area but as always we made the best of it. See less
