A Shelter Program for Families

10/12/2026

"Family homelessness exists all across the country. But it often goes unseen. It’s an invisible crisis.

More than 1.5 million children experienced homelessness during the 2023-24 school year. Yet most were not living on the streets or in shelters. They were staying in motels or doubled up with others, forms of homelessness that can remain largely invisible to the public.

These families and children experiencing homelessness deserve to be top of mind. Which is exactly why we work every day to serve families in our community.

This week, we’re going to celebrate our work here in York County and the work of Family Promise sites across the country.

Happy ! ⭐️"

How does our Holiday Auction work, you ask? Well let me tell you.............

1. Purchase your tickets either online or at the door. Write you first name and last initial on the back of each individual ticket (optional)
2. Show up at 11:00am at Boyd Hill Recreation Center
3. Walk around and look at the over 200 items for auction
4. If you see an item that you interested in, drop one or more tickets into the brown bag in front of that item. The more tickets you put in the bag, the more chances you have to win!
5. At 12pm, the fun begins!!! Our Auctioneers (better known as Carol and Leslie) go to the table, shake up the bag for an item and draw out the winning ticket for that item. If your ticket is called, you raise your hand and one of our runners will bring the item to you!!! This continues until all items have been won (usually takes about an hour).
BONUS: Each set of tickets contains one DOOR PRIZE ticket. You will put this ticket in our DOOR PRIZE basket and we draw out winners for those prizes throughout the auction!!!!

Come and Join in on the fun!!!!!! All proceeds of our auction are used to help fund our shelter programs for families with children.
