Our sweet Miss Sassy is facing a difficult medical mystery, and we need your support.
Today, Sassy was seen by a veterinarian who, like all of us, is struggling to understand what is happening. While she can move all four legs and responds to pain, she is unable to stand on her own. Even more concerning, she cannot urinate or defecate without assistance.
The veterinarian believes her condition may be neurological, but at this time the cause remains unknown.
Sassy has been admitted to Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine , where she will stay for at least the next several days while awaiting evaluation by a neurologist. We are hopeful that advanced diagnostics and specialist care will finally provide answers and a path forward for this precious girl.
The estimated cost for Sassyโs care starts at $2,500, and that is only the low estimate. As a small rescue, unexpected medical emergencies like this are incredibly challenging.

Three-month-old Miss Sassy went into surgery on Tuesday as the kitten we all knew and loved โ playful, spunky, curious, and full of life. She came home that evening, but after experiencing what may have been a seizure, everything changed.
Miss Sassy is now unable to walk.
Our veterinary team is still searching for answers. The most heartbreaking part is that she can move all of her limbs, but something is preventing her from standing and walking normally. One possibility is a small blood clot, an extremely rare complication, especially in a kitten this young.
Right now, Miss Sassy needs additional veterinary care, diagnostics, and support as we work to understand what happened and what her future looks like. We will be taking her to Cornell for further evaluation and that will carry a high cost.
