We just funded our 1,000th project! Join us in celebrating a decade of working with awesome community partners as an initiative of the Rochester Area Community Foundation! We’ve braided $16.6M to help make the homes of 1,000+ income-qualified Monroe County homeowners more energy-efficient, healthier, & safer. This work will keep 12,466+ tons of greenhouse gas emissions out of our atmosphere and homeowners report better physical & mental health outcomes.

Residential Energy Efficiency improvements thru grants from RENEW Climate Fund and our community partners helped this SW ROC homeowner reduce fuel usage by 26.62%. This upgrade will keep 26.52 tons of out of our atmosphere. 🌍💚

Happy International Compost Awareness Week! Go to the link in comments to learn about the City of Rochester’s free compost program for city residents! 💚🌏

RENEW’s Director started participating in the City's FREE compost program for city residents nearly five years ago. In that time she’s diverted over 1,800 lbs. of food waste from the landfill. Diverting food from landfills avoids methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Diverting 1,800 lbs of food could prevent roughly 3,000 lbs of CO2e emissions. For every pound of food composted, you generate about 0.75 lbs of compost, meaning 1,800 lbs of food yields over 1,350 lbs of valuable soil amendment. If you are a city resident, it's super easy to sign up. If you are not a city resident, ask what your town is doing or sign up with Impact Earth Composting (this service is not free but very affordable and they pick up at your home/business!) Rochester Area Community Foundation uses Impact Earth to compost our office food waste and they have been terrific!

Happy Earth Day, Rochester!

City Council presented a proclamation to Rochester ENergy Efficieny and Weatherization (RENEW) at last night's meeting, as the organization celebrates its 10th anniversary and continues to marry housing and environmental needs by making critical energy, health, and safety improvements in the homes of income-eligible homeowners and renters.

RENEW’s collective impact work has eliminated more than 12,058 tons of residential greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere.

A helped this Town of Brighton homeowner reduce fuel usage by 18.20%. This work will keep 14.9175 tons of residential greenhouse gas emissions out of our atmosphere.

Since RENEW started 10 years ago, Clean Heating and Cooling interventions like this funded by grants from RENEW Climate Fund and our community partners will keep over 12,389 tons of greenhouse gas out of our atmosphere. 💚🌍
