A couple of aloe plants and one with a cactus are out on the shelf! Stop by, get a book and a plant. We also actually have room for some books too!

While we always appreciate donations, receiving them in daily 5 and 10 cent increments over the course of 2 weeks isnt our preferred method.

Also, we aren't really big fans of littering, drunk driving, or stifling free speech. So if you know someone whose late night enjoyment is drinking some pretty terrible b**r and throwing it out their car window at signs, please ask them to think about their life choices.

This week we lost a legend. Dolly Parton was one of the most selfless humans on earth, using her fame and fortune to provide millions of books to children all across the country.

While our little library can never match her generosity and caring, we can continue her legacy by ensuring everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the written word.

We have also added a big box of milkweed pods. Take these pods home, find a spot you'd like to attract some monarchs, hummingbirds and other pollinators to, dig up the soil a little and rip it open and let the seeds settle into the ground.

Next year you'll have some new milkweed plants of your own. These plants WILL SPREAD, not only from their pods, but their rhizomes.

Just as our polinators spread beauty and life across our community, our books can take flight with you into your home and into your mind.

We have been so busy with the regular gardens we haven't been able to post in a while. The library is full of tons of great books including several classics.

Also, not sure how but our library got unlisted from the free little library program (apparently we were reported several times for being inactive?) but we got it reactivated!

Some fantastic neighbors added some new plants to the shelf! Still a couple of tomato roulettes and an oregano to go with what looks to be some spider plant cuttings and pathos (both indoor plants)

Tons of great books and Osso (the skeleton) got some new fun rainbow beads for pride month!

We've added a fun game called "Tomato roulette "to the library!

15 pots with 3 different types of tomatoes and not sure which are which.

All 3 are non-gmo, pesticide free heirloom varieties.

1 is a roma or "paste" tomato
1 is a standard "beefsteak" style
1 is a purple beefsteak variety.

No clue which are which, so that's why its tomato roulette.

ALSO, These ladies look a bit rough. They've had some high temps, low temps, and the weather tried to drown them a few times, but they don't give up!

They are looking to be planted in the ground, a little deeper than they current are, or in a much larger (5 gallon or more) sized bucket, and will need a tomato cage or other type of support.

With daily watering in about 2 weeks they should all double in size and start looking much healthier.

Come mid to late summer you should see a bunch of fruit and may even need additional supports for them (these variety have fruited so heavy we have had to tie the cages to support posts to stay up)

And as always the library has a ton of great books to keep your summer full of mystery, action, love, or fantasy.

A big batch of Spider Plants are out on the stand now.

These indoor plants go great in a hanging pot and after a few years will start sprouting their own babies!

They love full sun and a good weekly gulp of water.

These are a great beginner plant. Very hard to kill.

Some fantastic neighbors have dropped off more books and a whole bunch of seed packets! Tesr your green thumb at growing some awesome vegetables and herbs for free! All it takes is some dirt, water, sunshine and patience. If you have questions or need any tips feel free to ask. If we don't know from experience I'm sure we can help you find the answers!

The stand is full of fantastic books and some great perennial garden herbs!

Lemon balm!

This perennial plant is a member of the mint family so it likes to spread. Best planted in containers or areas with well established, hearty plants. It loves full sun but can also thrive with partial shade.

Leaves can be used to make tea, or to season fish, chicken and other dishes with a bit of lemon flavor. Several traditional medicinal uses as well, but we aren't doctors so we can't give specific advice.

Oregano!

It seems like a well known plant but Marge Simpson had never heard of it.

This spreading perennial is an excellent addition to many food recipes, both fresh and dried.

Also a member of the mint family, these dudes will spread like crazy and will be an aromatic and delicious addition to any garden

Also, thank you to the fantastic folks who dropped off some extra containers! We are always in need of quality pots and soils (any type) to keep churning out plants. We've got about 50 spider plant babies getting ready for the stand, as well as a handful of assorted succulents and some cat nip and regular mint getting ready.
