ROCovery We are a supportive inclusive community of physically active SOBER individuals

ROCovery Fitness is a peer-led supportive community of physically active individuals brought together by sober living. Our goal is to foster a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for healing and recovery—To help individuals rediscover their inner strength and resilience through fun, fitness and sober social connection. We are a not-for-profit community-based social care provider bringing fi

tness and non-fitness based classes and events as well as peer recovery support services to individuals with SUD in our community. All of our programs are free and open to ANYONE with at least 48-hours of continuous sobriety. We welcome friends, family members and ANYONE who chooses to live a sober lifestyle.

Beyond their job titles, our staff turn their passions into programs—bringing their talents, favorite activities, and unique experiences to life through the classes and events they lead at ROCovery.
🩵✨

Shaneese (Pronouns: she/her)
Official ROCovery Title: Harm Reduction Outreach & Engagement Specialist

Q: What classes or activities do you lead at ROCovery?

A: "I am the instructor of diamond painting art club." 💎 🎨

Q: What inspired you to start leading or teaching at ROCovery?

A: "I was inspired to lead a diamond painting art club because I believe recovery should be filled with connection, creativity, and hope. Art has a way of bringing people together and creating moments of peace and accomplishment. After everything I’ve overcome, I want to provide a space where others can heal, have fun, and know they don’t have to walk their recovery journey alone. Seeing people smile, connect, and discover new strengths through something as simple as placing tiny diamonds reminds me why community and purpose matter so much."

Q: What do you hope people gain from participating in your class or activity?

A: "I hope people leave my class with more than just a finished project. I want them to gain a sense of peace, patience, and accomplishment. I hope they discover that healing can happen through creativity and connection, and that recovery doesn’t have to be all hard work. It can include joy, laughter, and meaningful relationships. Most of all I want people to feel seen, supported, and reminded that they are capable of creating something beautiful , both on the canvas and in their lives."

Q: What’s something about you that might surprise the ROCovery community?

A: "What might surprise people is that my greatest strength isn’t just surviving difficult seasons—it’s my ability to turn those experiences into hope and connection for others. I believe recovery is about more than overcoming adversity; it’s about creating spaces where people can heal, laugh, be creative, and know they belong. I may have been through a lot, but I still choose compassion, purpose, and showing up for others."

Q: What would you say to someone who is thinking about joining your class for the first time?

A: "I would tell individuals to. Come as you are. You don’t have to be an artist—just be willing to give it a try. My class is a safe, welcoming space where we create, connect, and support one another. I’d love to have you join us.

If you’re thinking about joining my class for the first time, I want you to know that you don’t need to be artistic or have any experience. This is a judgment-free space where everyone is welcome. My hope is that you come as you are, take a break from the stress of everyday life, and allow yourself to simply enjoy the process.

Diamond painting is more than just creating something beautiful—it’s an opportunity to relax, connect with others, and be part of a supportive community. Whether you want to socialize or just quietly focus on your project, there’s a place for you here.

I know trying something new can feel uncomfortable, but you don’t have to do it alone. We learn together, encourage one another, and celebrate progress—not perfection. I would love to have you join us and experience the joy, connection, and hope that creativity can bring."

Q: What does community, connection, and recovery mean to you?

A: "Community means having a place where people are accepted, valued, and supported without judgment. It reminds me that none of us have to walk through life’s challenges alone.

Connection means building genuine relationships, sharing hope, and being present for others. Through connection, I have learned that healing happens when we feel seen, heard, and understood.

Recovery means growth, resilience, and choosing hope every day. It is not just about overcoming struggles, but about discovering purpose, giving back, and helping others find light in their own journeys. Recovery has taught me that every challenge I have faced has strengthened me and given me the ability to show up for others who may still be in the dark.

Together, community, connection, and recovery represent belonging, hope, and the opportunity to inspire and support one another. They remind me that we heal together, and that there is always hope for a brighter tomorrow." 🙏

Happy 8-Year Workaversary to our Executive Director, Jonathan Westfall👏

Your journey with ROCovery is one that truly reflects the heart of our organization. From member, to volunteer, to staff, to Executive Director. Every step of the way has been fueled by your belief in the power of community, connection, and recovery🤝💙

One of the things that makes you such a great leader is the environment you create. You truly care about our staff. When you share your own recovery story and the role ROCovery has played in it, your passion is undeniable, and it's a reminder of why this work matters so much😌

You continue to move ROCovery forward, creating more opportunities for people to find connection, support, and hope on their recovery journeys. But your impact doesn't stop there. Whether you're leading kettlebell, boxing, trail runs, or hiking trips, you're always finding ways to bring people together and show that recovery can be active, joyful, and fun🏋🏻🥊🏃🏻‍♂️🥾⛰️

Thank you for your leadership, your heart, and your commitment to ROCovery and everyone who walks through our doors. Your ROCfam loves you🫶💙
