This exciting tour includes a round trip from the San Bernardino Transit Center to downtown Redlands, lunch at a local venue, and a presentation from SBCTA's own Victor Lopez and Joy Buenaflor on how this program came to be, from planning to groundbreaking.

Two Thursdays ago, WTS-Inland Empire hosted a successful “Ask a Contractor?” GC Leadership Roundtable at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Norco, bringing together public agency representatives, consultants, and industry partners for an engaging discussion with leaders from some of the region’s largest contracting firms.

The conversation was thoughtful, practical, and highly engaging, covering contractor perspectives on project delivery, collaboration, teaming opportunities, constructability, and lessons learned in the transportation industry. Attendees appreciated the open discussion format and the opportunity to hear directly from general contractors about how agencies and consultants can better partner with builders.

Last month, WTS-IE attended the WTS International Conference last week, and it was an energizing experience for our chapter. It’s always incredibly inspiring to hear the stories and journeys of women across the industry, learn what other chapters are accomplishing, and feel the collective momentum of the WTS community. It can be a lot to take in, but in the best possible way.

This year felt especially meaningful as our chapter was recognized as part of the WTS 2026 Gold Circle of Excellence. This honor reflects the dedication, collaboration, and passion of our members, volunteers, and leadership — and it reinforces the momentum we’re building together.

We were proud to have such a strong Inland Empire presence at the conference, supported by so many of our member firms. IE truly showed up — and it was exciting to hear our chapter given a shout out by Stephanie Wiggins during the event. That recognition, paired with our Gold Circle achievement, highlights the impact our chapter continues to make.

The conference also gave us meaningful time to connect as a chapter. Ideas were flying left and right, sparking conversations that we’re excited to bring home and turn into action. A special highlight was seeing our very own Rachel Yazawa-Taylor, P.E. speak on a panel about soft skills and her superpower of visibility— a fantastic representation of the leadership within our chapter. We are all very proud of her.

We left feeling inspired, energized, and grateful for the experience. Most of all, we’re excited to channel this inspiration into strengthening our chapter and continuing to elevate the voices of women in transportation across the Inland Empire.
