Last week, our New Gen middle and high school students took on a Shark Tank style challenge with Atlantic Union Bank and they delivered! 💡

From brainstorming to pitching, students created innovative business ideas and presented them to a panel of judges.

Standout ideas included:

⌚ A basketball training watch with real time feedback
♿ A device to help wheelchair users stand
🛏️ An inflatable pillow with adjustable firmness
☀️ A solar powered cooling chair with a mister

We are so proud of their creativity, confidence, and teamwork! 👏🏾

Huge thank you to the Atlantic Union volunteers who made this experience possible.

We are proud to celebrate our CEO, Corey Taylor, on graduating from Leadership Metro Richmond’s Leadership Quest Class of 2026!

After 10 months of learning, listening, connecting, and collaborating, Corey is now part of the LMR alumni community. At the LMR Leadership Quest graduation ceremony at Reynolds Community College, Corey was selected as the class speaker and was honored as the Class of 2026 “A Step Above.”

Corey’s leadership and dedication to the Peter Paul RVA community continue to inspire us every day. His passion for creating opportunities for young people and families is at the heart of our mission, and this recognition reflects his impact on both our East End community and across Richmond.

Please join us in congratulating Corey on this exciting milestone and in celebrating his continued leadership at Peter Paul! 👏🏾

Last week, New Gen middle and high school students in our summer program got the chance to step into the world of entrepreneurship during a Shark Tank–style activity hosted by Atlantic Union Bank!

Students put their creativity to work by breaking into teams to develop original product ideas for specific consumer audiences. With guidance from Atlantic Union volunteers, they sketched, brainstormed, and built out their business concepts before pitching them to a panel of “judges” and answering audience questions.

The results? Truly impressive innovation! Ideas included a watch that gives real-time feedback on basketball shots, a device designed to help wheelchair users stand, an inflatable pillow with adjustable firmness, and a solar-powered cooling chair with an automatic mister.

A huge thank you to the Atlantic Union volunteers who made this exciting experience possible. Your time and mentorship made a lasting impact on our students!

Last month, thirty of our older adults enjoyed a special afternoon at the Nourish to Flourish Luncheon, co-sponsored by the Richmond Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Peter Paul. 💜

Guests were treated to a delicious, healthy meal, participated in rejuvenating chair yoga, and even went home with some fun prizes!

Thank you to our amazing partners for creating such a joyful and uplifting experience for our community.

Today, we remember and celebrate John Coleman on what would have been his 94th birthday.

His legacy continues to inspire the Peter Paul RVA community, reminding us of the lasting impact one life can have. Each day, in the work we do, in the smiling faces of our kids, and in our conversations with neighbors and families, we feel his spirit in our building.

We are grateful to honor his memory and the example he set for service, dedication, and care for others. 💜

In May, our Older Adults got a visit from Deborah, the owner of Katie's Soles, who brought an array of new and gently used shoes and clothing items for our them to choose from. The Older Adults had lots of fun shopping the bins!

Thank you, Katie's Soles, for working to support families and neighbors in East End.

Summer Promise Academy is off to an exciting start! 🌞

During the first week, elementary students toured the Coleman Center and got to know each other through classroom games and activities. They also spent time outside on the playground and basketball court.

During the first week, elementary students toured the Coleman Center and got to know each other through classroom games and activities. They also spent time outside on the playground and basketball court. And they have already read an entire chapter book! Atlantic Union Bank donated enough copies of the summer reading for every child! Their volunteers even came in last week to read aloud to the students!

Students have already begun earning Peter Paul Bucks for helping out and contributing in class. This fun incentive helps teach financial responsibility and ties into this summer’s theme: Money. Throughout the program, students will learn how to pay bills, balance a budget, and save for long-term goals while earning prizes from the Peter Paul store.

This week promises even more fun as enrichment programming begins. Stay tuned for more updates!

On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved people in the United States were informed of their freedom — more than two years after it was declared.

Today, we honor that history while celebrating the culture, achievements, and resilience of Black communities.

At Peter Paul RVA, we’re proud to be part of a community that continues to grow, uplift, and move forward together.

📣 Save the Date!

What does it take to close opportunity gaps and help East End youth thrive?

Join Peter Paul RVA for our 2nd Annual Vision & Voice, an inspiring afternoon bringing together business, civic, and community leaders for a meaningful conversation about leadership, opportunity, and investing in the next generation.

This year’s program features a keynote from entrepreneur and philanthropist Devon Henry, followed by a conversation with CEO Corey Taylor exploring how strong partnerships can create pathways for young people to succeed in school, careers, and life.

✨ Vision & Voice is our signature leadership event, bringing together innovators, thought leaders, and community voices to tackle the questions shaping the future of Richmond’s East End. Last year, we were honored to welcome film producer, writer, and investor B. K. Fulton, and this year’s conversation promises to be just as impactful.
