Runners in our after-school program finished the year strong!

With guidance and encouragement from their trainers at Live Red Foundation, students crossed the finish line of their final mile run with medals (and popsicles!) in hand and pride on their faces.

"At the start of this year, you were barely able to do a plank," one coach reflected. "And just look at you now! You are so strong!"

Programs like this help students develop critical life skills that go beyond the finish line, including goal-setting, confidence, self-control, and resilience.

We are grateful to community partners like Live Red and to everyone who helps connect children in the East End with coaches, teachers, and mentors who provide steady encouragement and opportunities to grow.

Last night's End-of-Year Music Orchard Richmond Concert marked a powerful milestone for our young musicians.

Students in violin and saxophone lessons took the stage, some of them playing for an audience after just a few months of lessons, others showcasing years of dedication. Every performance was beautiful.

But the most moving moment came at the end.

MOR Founder Elizabeth Kilpatrick announced that all the students who had completed two years of lessons would be taking home their very own instrument!

Music Orchard Richmond gifted three violins to the students, and 725 Arts & Culture gifted a fourth!

The looks on the students’ faces said it all.

As they hugged their new violins and peeked inside the cases, you could see the excitement and pride welling up and the reality settling over them: the power to keep growing is in their hands.

Thank you to MOR instructors and volunteers for putting so much time, energy, and care into our young musicians and for teaching them the transformative power of music.
