June is Great Outdoors Month!🧗🚣‍♂️🚴‍♂️🥾 It's the perfect time to celebrate the public lands and waters that make Vermont such a special place to explore, recreate, and connect with nature.

Our Corps Members work each day to protect and care for these incredible places so that current and future generations can continue enjoying the outdoor experiences we all love.

What's your favorite place in Vermont to get outside? Whether it's a favorite hiking trail, swimming hole, paddle route, or scenic overlook, share it in the comments!

What a weekend! Thank you to everyone who came out to support our plant sale and helped make it such a success! We loved seeing so many familiar faces and meeting new friends from the community.

If you stopped by the sale, what are you most excited to grow in your garden this year?

Missed the sale? No worries, we still have plant starts available for purchase behind the farmstand while supplies last!

The farmstand is now OPEN 7 days a week, 10am–6pm through October! Stop by for fresh veggies, eggs, frozen chicken, and VYCC swag, every purchase supports the Health Care Share and VYCC’s Food & Farm Program.

We’re excited to share that our Community Health Manager, Grace Woroch, was recently on Vermont Edition to discuss all things Health Care Share!

If you didn’t catch it live, you can listen to the episode here: https://www.vermontpublic.org/show/vermont-edition/2026-04-30/vermont-csas-take-on-food-insecurity-and-health-disparities Grace’s segment begins around the 12-minute mark.

We’re incredibly grateful to Vermont Public for the opportunity to highlight this work and to explore how partnerships with local Vermont farms can play a meaningful role in addressing food insecurity across the state.

This spring, our Year-Round Crew Leaders (YRCLs) partnered with Cold Hollow to Canada to carry out impactful forestry work in northern Vermont. Together, our four YRCLs completed a one-acre patch cut in Enosburg and a three-acre crop release in Montgomery.

A patch cut is a small-scale clear cut designed as a forestry tool to support wildlife habitat. By opening the canopy and allowing more sunlight to reach the forest floor, patch cuts encourage the growth of diverse vegetation and create space for new trees to establish in the understory.

The work our YRCLs have completed this spring has made a real difference, and we cannot wait to welcome our next cohort of YRCLs on May 1st!
