At 8 years young, this 40-pound Pocket Bully is equal parts strength and sweetness, a resilient little powerhouse with the softest heart.
Gertie hasn’t had the easiest start in life, but you’d never know it by the way she leans into love and follows her people around like their biggest fan.

Since being found as a stray, she’s truly blossomed in foster care. With the help of our amazing vets and lots of TLC, her health has improved and her skin is looking better than ever!
Now? She’s ready for her next chapter, a forever home where she can finally exhale.

True to his name, Romeo is all heart ❤️
This sweet boy is the definition of a “velcro dog”… where you go, he happily follows, always ready to be your loyal little shadow. He’s playful and fun, but what really makes Romeo special is how deeply he loves. He bonds quickly and wholeheartedly, giving his person the kind of companionship that feels rare and truly meaningful.

Romeo is incredibly smart and eager to please, the kind of pup who watches you closely, learns fast, and just wants to get it right. Whether it’s playtime, learning something new, or curling up on the couch, he’s all in as long as he’s with you.

At just 14 weeks old, this sweet, spayed girl is already proving she’s something special. 💖 Hera is the perfect mix of fun and affection.. she’s just as happy tossing around her favorite toys and sticks or romping with her foster brother as she is curling up beside you for a cozy snuggle session.

Don’t let her puppy age fool you, Hera is one smart cookie! She already knows sit, spin, touch, and down, and she politely waits at doors like a little lady before heading out. She’s doing great on leash walks and is eager to keep learning. Whether it’s training time or “math homework” (she insists snacks are required), Hera is ready to be your enthusiastic study buddy.

What Hera really wants is a family to love her, include her in their daily life, and continue nurturing her bright mind and joyful personality. She thrives on connection and would do best in a home that sees her not just as a pet, but as a true member of the family.

Meet Valerie 💛

A gentle soul with the softest heart and the sweetest eyes, Valerie is the kind of dog who quietly walks into your life and somehow feels like she’s always belonged there.

This beautiful girl is around 3-5 years old, just about 35lbs, and is the definition of easy love. She gets along wonderfully with every animal she’s met and currently lives on a farm where she moves through the world with calm confidence and an easy, joyful grace. Off leash, she sticks close, listens beautifully, and comes when called like she truly just wants to be near her person.

Valerie is a “buddy dog” through and through. Not demanding, not pushy, just content to be your steady little shadow, your soft presence in the background of everyday life. Whether you’re working around the yard, relaxing at home, or heading out for a stroll, she’s the kind of companion who fits right in beside you like she was made for it.

She’s believed to be a beagle/cattle dog mix with the perfect small-medium build and an even more perfect temperament: calm, affectionate, and deeply people-oriented.

Her story, though, starts with heartbreak. Valerie was found abandoned in a rural area, pregnant and alone. She was taken in by animal control and tragically gave birth in the shelter. But that chapter is behind her now and she is ready for something beautiful.

Now, she’s looking for the life she’s always deserved: a home, a family, and a person to call her own.

Petey was someone’s dog… and then he was left behind.

This 5-year-old, 117 lb gentle giant (American Bulldog) came to the shelter with a tiny Chihuahua friend. The little dog found a home…Petey didn’t. Now he sits alone, missing the only companion he knew, trying to cope in a loud, overwhelming shelter.

He’s soft, sweet, walks nicely on leash, knows basic commands, and has been good with kids and small dogs. He just needs someone to show him he won’t be left again.

Petey is neutered, vaccinated, and ready to love you with his whole heart.

💔 Shelter is full. He needs out.

🍧Meet Snow Cone🍨 an absolutely stunning 6-month-old pup currently at Powhatan Animal Shelter. He was found as a stray, suffering from a badly injured shoulder… but thanks to the he was given a second chance and received the surgery he desperately needed. Now he’s on the road to recovery but the shelter is no place for a baby like him to heal.

Just look at him… 🤍His striking all-white coat, those big upright ears, and that soft pink-and-black speckled nose make him unforgettable. But it’s his gentle, soulful expression that really gets you… he’s the kind of dog who just feels special the moment you meet him.

He needs:
• A quiet, loving home to recover
• A soft bed instead of a concrete floor
• Someone to give him the comfort and care he’s been missing

He’s been through so much already, and what he needs now is simple: kindness, patience, and love.

Oakie is the total package! Not only is she absolutely stunning but she is also the bestest behaved girl! Her awesome foster family has been taking her to training classes for fun and this already great girl has only gotten better! She is a good fit for just about any house hold and would love to snuggle up right into your arms and your heart ❤️

Every face in this photo is a life we were able to save. Dogs who came from neglect, abandonment, or were just hours away from losing their chance. This collage isn’t of dogs still waiting… it’s proof of what fostering makes possible.

Because every single one of them needed someone to say “yes” first.

Right now, we’re running out of that “yes.” Without fosters, we can’t step in for the next dog who needs us. And there are always more waiting scared, overlooked, and running out of time.

Fostering isn’t forever. It’s a bridge between heartbreak and a second chance. It’s a warm place to land, a safe space to heal, and the reason a dog gets the opportunity to find their forever home.

We cover medical care, food, supplies, and support… you’re never doing this alone. All you have to do is open your heart and your home.

You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be willing.
