It's been a hot minute since we've posted what we're up to! The kids have been up to great things, helping plant 12 trees last fall, and one tree today with the Mid Columbia Partnership school out in Kennewick. Alexis and Bailey gave a spectacular presentation on root care and we had at least 50 youth help plant Larry. As always, thank you to Job's Nursery LLC for helping make it a success as well as the Mid Columbia Community Forestry Council

The kids worked together to pull out a heavy rock from the hole. I also thought I would include a picture of what was left of the old tie down stakes.

Our 2025 Tree Care Workshop is fast approaching! Please join us for this free event to learn about all sorts of local issues that affect your gardens:
Japanese Beetles
How to achieve firewise landscaping
How our local utility district works
Helpful tricks for pruning, caring for, and moving trees.
All of this will be followed by a walk around with arborists, weather permitting.

Last week was
Arbor Day week, which means we were running around like crazy supporting all the cities!
While the kids couldn't make it to everything, their shovels were there to empower other kids to lend a hand and contribute to something great!

In Pasco, this guy was looking at all the big shovels, wondering what he was going to do, and when his eyes fell on the shovel that was his size, they truly lit up. He jumped right in, and even landed himself a TV interview with his shovel proudly in frame ❤️. Even when they can't be there, Kids for Urban Trees still makes an impact.

So grateful to KNDU with NBC Right Now for having Alexis and Nirbhuy on for an Earth Day interview this morning! (Laynie, you inspired Alexis so much, she said she wants to be a news anchor when she grows up!)

It gave the kids the chance to bring more awareness to Kids for Urban Trees and all they are accomplishing for Eastern Washington. Now let's get out there and plant some trees! Happy Earth Day 🌍 !

Thank you Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes and Benton-Franklin Health District for supporting their cause!

This year our group is focused on invasive species. We're working with the Washington State Department of Agriculture to spread the word on Japanese Beetles. These beetles are already in Pasco and can do a TON of damage to our farming, gardening, and tree nursery communities. Help stop the spread and join us on our journey as we create traps you can make at home!

Catch us at the REACH Museum for their Earth Day event tomorrow!

Whew, it's been a minute since we've been on our social media account, but we've been VERY busy since January getting ready for the spring and planning out our year!
