One of the great classic wines of the world is Chablis
from France. This steely, dry white wine comes from the
most northern vineyards of the Burgundy region. Made
from the Chardonnay grape grown in a cool-climate region,
Chablis exhibits finesse and offers the wine enthusiast the
finest characteristics of this noble grape variety.
Unfortunately, in the United States the name Chablis
has been associated with generic wines of questionable
quality that bear no resemblance to a fine French Chablis.
To make matters worse, the reputation of the Chardonnay
grape variety has suffered with the over production of
flabby, heavily oaked wines made from grapes grown in
warm-climate regions. “Anything but Chardonnay.”
Join us at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, at the 3 Eyed
Fish to gain a better prospective of what Chablis has to
offer. Taste and compare 3 fine French Chablis with some
un-oaked Chardonnays from Washington, Oregon and
California. Glen Graebic, sommelier and wine judge, will
lead the tasting.

Goose Ridge Winery Tour & Tasting
The Tri-Cities Wine Society’s event on Friday afternoon, May 20 will offer a unique opportunity – a tour of the impressive Goose Ridge production facility, right in our own Tri-Cities backyard. The state-of-the-art production facilities are surrounded by 2,200 acres of estate vineyard, the largest contiguous vineyard in the state. All of the grapes used in Goose Ridge’s five wine labels – Goose Ridge Estate, g3, Tall Sage, Stonecap and Cascadian Outfitters – come from this vineyard. In addition to producing these wines, the huge production facility provides numerous services – grapes for sale, bulk wines, custom crush, custom bottling, and wine storage.
The day will start with a short annual meeting at the Goose Ridge tasting room. Then we will carpool to the nearby production facilities where the winemaking staff will conduct a tour. They will fill us in on information about the wines they make and the winemaking process, along with barrel sample(s), and other details about the facilities. What’s Next? Relaxing back at the tasting room while tasting some of the Goose Ridge Estate wines (both red and white) along with complementary food. As a special treat we will also be offered a taste of their newest ventures – vodka and brandy.
We hope you will join us for an informative and enjoyable afternoon at the picturesque Goose Ridge Vineyards and Estate Winery location.

On April 1st (no-fooling) a group of members got to experience the Yakima Valley Bus Trip. After a short bus ride we first went to the Yakima Valley Community College where we enjoyed a tasting of several of their wines and a guided tour of their teaching facilities, and an enjoyable catered lunch. Then it was on to Sunnyside where we had private tastings at Cote Bonneville and Co Din. There were some excellent wines and great conversations with the wine makers and TCWS Members. Those who did not attend really missed out a a great afternoon. Many thanks to the Co-Chairs Cher Case and Mary Peters for putting on the terrific event!
