We returned yesterday from our mission trip to Indianapolis! We had 17 people, 13 students and 4 adults (Michele Antonuk is missing from the picture). As all the pictures come in, I'll be making more posts about the amazing experiences we had together as a group.
Two years ago, HCY took a mission trip to Merrill, WI with 4 students and 2 adults.
Last year, we took 8 students and 3 adults to Duluth, MN.
This year, we took 13 students and 4 adults to Indianapolis.
Mission trips have grown every year at HCY. I don't believe that's because they're fun, although we certainly have fun. They're not vacations.
I believe they've grown because teens are challenged. They're pushed to serve, pushed to dig into God's Word, pushed to examine themselves, and pushed to see people and needs that would be easy to turn a blind eye to.
This group of 17 served well, pursued God well, stepped outside of their everyday comfort, and represented Christ well. There are so many stories, memories, and experiences to share.
If one of these students is your child, be immensely proud of them. They did an amazing job this week. Ask them about their experiences. Ask them what God taught them, where He stretched them, what challenged them, and how He changed them.
I'm incredibly grateful for everyone who supports HCY through prayer, volunteering, or financial giving. You make opportunities like this possible.
My prayer is that this trip doesn't end when the cars got home butthat what God started in the hearts of these students continues to grow and bear fruit long after this week.
Look for more stories and pictures over the next week.
