Alvernia University students recently returned from a meaningful week in the Dominican Republic, where they immersed themselves in the Los Tres Brazos community and served alongside the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters. Throughout the trip, students taught learners of all ages, supported youth programming, and visited community members experiencing illness. These experiences reflect the heart of Alternative Breaks and our commitment to forming compassionate, globally minded servant leaders.

What an incredible Earth Day of Service with over 80 volunteers between two sites. Alvernia University students, faculty, and staff partnered with Berks County Parks and Recreation Department at Grings Mill to clean, mulch, reorganize picnic spaces, refresh playground areas, and add new life to pavilions. Volunteers also supported Public Works of Reading, PA as part of the Great American Cleanup around City Park. The Holleran Center is proud of the difference our campus community made at Grings Mill and City Park!
