The Holleran Center joined Alvernia Athletics coaches and John and Karen Arnold School of Nursing students at Helping Harvest today to help prepare Thanksgiving meals for families in our community! Together, we helped package 1,170 meals to support local families this holiday season. We’re grateful for the opportunity to come together across campus, serve our neighbors, and support Helping Harvest’s important work in our community. ❤️

For 18 years, Saint Francis Day of Service has brought the Alvernia community together to honor our patron saint the best way we know how — through service.

This year, students, faculty, staff, and alumni returned to longtime community partner, iHart Harvest, Inc, to harvest potatoes that were donated to local food pantries through Helping Harvest.

Held in celebration of the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, the annual day invites our university community to put our Franciscan values into action while reflecting on how we care for our neighbors, our community and the world around us.

As we commemorate the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis, his call to serve others continues to inspire our community eight centuries later.

In honor of the Feast of Saint Francis, the Alvernia community came together for iHart Harvest’s Potato Project, putting our Franciscan values into action through a day of service.

Students, faculty, staff, and alumni worked together to harvest and pack potatoes that will be distributed to local food banks, helping provide nourishment to neighbors in our community.

This 9/11, the Holleran Center spent the afternoon giving back at the Reading Area Firefighters Museum for our first Franciscan Friday. Our volunteers helped clean, organize, and move items throughout the museum while supporting the space that honors the history and service of local firefighters.

We are grateful for everyone who came out to lend a hand and give their time to our community. Thank you for helping us turn remembrance into service!
